| Just out of curiosity how many people bought coots at the show??
the hottest bait nobody outside the twin cities knows about,,crazy but you cant argue with the results it produced last year,,Im going to have him make a custom white one for me when I see him |

| I looked at them and was curious but for the price tag of $30 I just couldn't pull the trigger. The photo of a BIG fish in the net with a coot in its' mouth didn't lie. |

| Yep the board thing...that booth was rockin this weekend, I'm sure we'll see a few variations coming for sure.
It was neat to see a true garage bait get so much play. |

Location: NorthCentral WI | I think I get it; the board floats so it really runs upside down in the water compared to the pic. I'm guessing the advantages are the larger profile and blades probably turn easier too. Almost a combination of topwater and bucktail.
Trolling rig only? Casting may be a challenge. It would definitely have a nice big profile from underneath and fish probably tend to hit the board/side hooks. Interesting idea, you've got to give him that.
I think I can speak for most when I say I'd love to see a video of that in the water. Maybe from underneath like the fish's perspective.

| The winner of the Twin Cities Mens divisions used it quite a bit last years with his coot fish averaging 48" and 20+ fish on it. It works no gimmick, seen it in action, can be cast and trolled.

| first time i saw a cowgirl, i thought, my arms would fall off casting that thing. Dont let my inability to understand this lure/plainer board affect your goals of getting a custom painted white one. And please don't compare whatever this thing is to a cowgirl.

I can't imagine it's any harder to cast than a pounder.
It's a topwater, so you don't have to worry about burning it in, should be a breeze to reel in.

Location: Hugo, MN | I have had a handful of Coots for the last couple seasons. Pat gave me the one that caught its first 50"er. I tried it out right away, but couldn't troll it behind my big motor in heavy wind. It kept diving. I wrote it off and hung it in the garage.
Fast forward to last June. Pat starts off the season with 6 fish that averaged 50". I started using mine in select situations, but no luck.
In August Pat and my Dad had just been hammering big fish after big fish, all on the Coot. I would get phone calls while at work, "Just got a 49!", "Just got a 48!". It was getting old fast.
I started using the Coot a lot more, and had big fish after big fish blow up on it. I finally landed a 45.5" on it in September. My Dad hops in the boat a half hour later and also gets a 45.5", before we proceed to miss four more much larger fish that afternoon.
As the season went on, the bite tapered off a bit. It seemed that when the ducks were heavy on the lakes there was too much natural competition.
I looked over the size distribution of the fish caught on the Coot, and it clearly shows that the larger fish are more likely to eat the bait, or apparently target ducks. Perhaps even better, I've only heard of ONE northern pike eating one.
People can look at the bait and laugh all they want. When you see the water the bait moves, and the strikes it provokes, you'll get it. The Coot is essentially a Cowgirl that you can slow roll on the surface, AND, it has a huge profile. Muskies eat more ducks than people think. I witnessed one last year on Waconia, and it was a BIG fish. The Coot is no joke. |

| whats the hook up ratio on one of these things, and the skies do they usually hit the back hooks or does it nail the board broadside? I'm going to be throwing a 2X4 this year for sure |

Location: north metro, MN | i remember when i first met pat a few years ago. at the time i just thought he was a nice guy who liked talking about muskie fishing and then he showed me this lure it became an inside joke between me and my buddies. like the posts above about the cowgirls.. you never know when your one of the first people laying eyes on what is going to be one of the newest hottest lures. good work pat. |

| I was thinking about buying one and then I went to Worrall's seminar and decided to modify a pine cone instead. Just kidding...that was one of my favourite seminars.
I thought that the coot was a joke when I first saw it but then I talked with the fellow selling them and saw all of his photos of musky that he caught with it. Several presenters talked about thinking outside the box...the coot does accomplishes this. |
