Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I used to own both, and I have sold all my Musky Innovations rods. The St. Croix xhf premier has a better balance which makes it feel lighter, and IMO flexes more than the MI rod with the same weight rating, helping to keep the fish pinned. I also noticed that the St. Croix guides are much larger, and the tip top guide is definitely heavier duty. After buying a St. Croix, I now own 4 of the same rod, I will never buy a MI rod ever again. |

James has a special going on right now with his rods at Musky Tackle Online. I can't speak on behalf of the St. Croix rod... but I know for a fact that the Tackle Industries rod is lighter than the one by Musky Innovations. |

The 8'0 ST. Croix Premier I picked up last summer 2-6 oz was my #1 rod last season.
Like the other post---It is really well balanced and light---a joy to use for a wide range of lures. |

Location: Michigan | If on a budget I would go in this order:
1 - TackleBooty
2 - Bulldawg
3 - St. Croix
I love my Tacklebooty and Bulldawg rods and have been using my Bulldawg rods for 3-4 years without any problems. St. Croix makes good rods but are expensive. |

| I have used a tackle industries rod and was very happy with it. For the money don't think you could go wrong with one of those or one of the new Tyrant's. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Just another 5 weeks for my new one piece rods to come out 3 powers in full grip or split grip for a choice of 6 new rods. Can't wait!!!! Musky Tackle Online and myself will be running them for a few weeks at the $110 winter special. Not much snow left but we will still call it a winter special for everyone who has been patiently waiting for them. Thanks
James

Weevil, out of the two you have mentioned I would go with the ST. Croix.
However, I've never used Musky Innovations rods, and don't know anyone who has . Therefore, I couldn't compare the two.
Since you mentioned a "limited budget" maybe take a good look at Tackle Industries new one piece 9-footer. I know folks who have the 1st generation (if I can call it that) rod, and they have very positive comments about the rods and
Jame's service.

| Hey James. I just ordered a 8'6/9 TI rod. What are the differences in the new rods? Should I consider returning the one I ordered for the new model? |
