| For those of you that use rubber bands on your sucker rigs, what size works best? I'm going to try this system of rigging and am just not quite sure what size of bands to buy. They will be 7-14" suckers. Thanks |

Location: Racine, Wi | Personally, I don't use rubberbands as they take more time then necessary to rig. Use either a small snap on the front of the rig and just snap it in the sucker, or a smaller circle hook or treble hook with 2 of the hook points cut off (I typically cut the 2 hooks off of a treble hook as the eye on the smaller treble hooks is bigger then on a circle hook). Much quicker to rig a sucker this way and I've actually got a couple of fish on the front hook somehow. |

| I just like the idea of a rubber band because I have been using a small hook in front and for some reason it seems to pull out occasionally. The hook also damages the sucker a little more in case it doesn't get bit and I want to use it again. |

Location: The Yahara Chain | I use 1/4" heavy orthodontic rubber bands. The mediums will work for smaller suckers but the heavy ones work for all sizes.

Location: S.W. WI | I picked up a pack of small assorted rubber bands at hardware store. all about 3/8" to 3/4" and they work fine. Same size as in the Maina Rig set up.

Location: syracuse indiana | go to walmart and go to the hair care isle. they are used by girls to tie up their hair. they are small and a litle trick i do is then you run them through the sucker twist the band up before you put it back on the snap. that tightens it up to the sucker and when you set the hook make sure the fish is going away from you and hit it hard very hard and that will break the band and the second hookset will drive the hooks home...bill |

Location: Loves Park, IL | I use the orthodontist rubber bands, too. They break at hookset very easily and I have never had to pay for any yet. I walk into a dentist office and tell them I have a strange request. I offer to pay for them but they have not charged me for any yet. They usually give me a pack enough for two years. I brought back in a couple photos of fish we caught on the rigs and they get a kick out of it. The best part of these bands is that they work on all sizes of suckers as they start out very small for smaller ones and have great stretch for the fall sizes (I use up to 16" usually). Good luck!

I'm happy enough using the #8 size rubber bands with Sucker rigs. They don't break too easily, but will when you give things a hard pull. You can buy a pack of 50 about the price of a candy bar.
