Any suggestions on the best working lure retriever. I've seen the types that are on an extendable pole and another type that uses a heavy metal head connected to 40' of nylon cord that slides down the line.

How much $ do you figure you've saved with these?

Or, are they just gimmicks?

Thanks.

I have this one from Frabill. http://www.frabill.com/accessories/9865.html

At $40 for the lure retriever, it doesn't take many saved baits for it to pay for itself. I probably saved $80 on Shad Raps this past week walleye fishing on the Fox River.

Cabelas has one for $19.99. It works great. I've retreived dozens of baits with it.
It extends to 19 ft. Caught an anchor rope and pulled up a 20lb anchor along with my bait.

I like the one from frabill...I have saved hundreds of dollars in lures using it...I seem to have a habit of targeting squirrels with some of my casts and the frabill lets me get my lure back from those high places as well as low...

I got the Frabill model at our local Fleet Farm... and if you don't have one of those local to you, I know Rollie & Helens has them for sale.

Toothyfishmans lure retrievers for sure. Less than $20 shipped and they are alot easier to store then the frabill pole retriever. I used mine probably 12 to 15 times in the past 2 years since i bought one, i've saved probably over $300 worth of lures( probably more since most were wileys and perchbaits) in that time.

I've got the Frabill....It's saved me some baits and I pulled an anchor up with it once too.
