The level wind does not move while casting, only while reeling. At least that's how mine works. It doesn't seem to be an issue.

If, when you say levelwind, you mean that there is a little ''line guide'' on he reel then Yes, it does have one
Although it doesent follow the line when casting or when a fish pulls line out.
I would reccomend you to buy the Revo Toro, a much nicer reel IMO (unless your casting baits up to something like 2-2 1/2 oz)

The Curado has a disengaging level wind system and the Toro has a non-disengaging level wind system. Shimano is working on a 500 size reel that will go head to head with the Toro, maybe it will be at ICAST this year ??? I to like the Toro over the Curado.

Question, why do you guys like the Revo over the Curado? Just curious. I had a client use a Revo last year in the boat and he had me cast it a few times. It felt very plasticy (if that's a word lol) to me. Very light, but didn't seem built very well. Now before you beat me down for saying that, it's just what it felt like initially, and that is the only time I've held one (took 2 or 3 casts with it). It cast very nice and what not, maybe I just wasn't used to that type of reel (much lighter then the standard round reels and the curado). I haven't heard any really bad things about the Revos, so apparently they're built well.

The curado seems much more solid when you hold it, so maybe that's what I was expecting. I do have one curado, and have used it for ripping crank baits as well as throwing weagles and love the reel. The disengaging levelwind is a tad goofy, but nothing that I'm concerned about.

I had 3 Curado reels and when the Toro came out I got a Toro and after casting it my Curado's felt plasticy ( I like that word, Thanks Joel) I like the 300 Curado with 65lb test braid and casting lures under 2 1/2oz . The Toro comes in 2 sizes and 3 different gears, Curado only one size and 1 gear, also the Toro comes with a 105mm long stock handle the Curado a 90mm long handle, and the Toro has a Power Handle that cames with the reel at N/C. Both are fine reels, Shimano is working on a 500 size reel that will go head to head with the Toro, maybe this year at ICAST ???? or next year. It's like a ford or Chevy, to each there own.

they are both great reels. i have and use them both. i like the revo toro better for a number of reasons. revo toro fits the hands way better for palming(both the 50 and 60). they fit my hands perfect. curado in much longer in profile. my hands would have to be a 1" or so bigger to palm the same way. revo toro has 6 models(RH) curado has 2. the toro has more cranking power and a much stronger drag. revo is more effective on hard pulling baits. you have more options with the revo toro over the curado.

I also have both, I used my curado a bunch more last year then my toro. I have pretty big hands so neither of them are uncomfortable to me but I would say the curado is more comfortable. I also went out and got a curado 300EJ this year, can't wait to use it.

so far this winter we broke a revo 61, curado 301 going strong, 2 record abus going strong..... i think the levelwind got iced up and busted somehow which is odd seeing how it moves when casted prolly not a big deal good thing we only paid 150 for the revo...

look at all the reels that ABU has come out with over the years and they never last...new models etc Now look at shimano they make a reel and they keep that reel for years. Shimano is like a BMW ...ABU like a Chevy

Though I havent tried a corado yet, I am replying to the toro question that is above.

Never had any issues with my Toro's, had one since they first came out. I used the 5:4:1 for everything, including 10's. I also took the time to completely tear apart the reel, and really doesnt seem to hard to ever have to fix one.
