I have seen A product called GRABB-IT at muskytackleonline it is 20" long and used to get hooks out when the fish is still in the water has anyone used one of these sounds like A good idea but I am skeptical that it would really work

I had one, I sold it. Not saying it won't work for you but found the pair of Snap-on pliers or the Matco pliers we use and combination of Knipex that we mostly use as hooks are cheap when it comes to the fast release with the least amount of stress on the fish were all more effective. We cut a lot of hooks, it's just easier/faster.

If I hadn't bought something similar (only 15"), I would be ordering one of those. All though I haven't used it, I have used a much shorter version on bass. It works really well when a bass is deeply hooked. That was one of the reason I bought a longer version. I wanted something to help remove hooks when hooked deeply in the gills or mouth.

Other pliers should work just fine, perhaps better, when a hook is easily reached. However, I just wanted something to help when the hook is deep down inside a mouth.

Keeps your hands/arms away from the fish. Instead of getting hooked (deeply) to a large thrashing fish in the net as I have, ALONE! I would say worth it.

One of the best tools I have ever bought,I keep two in the boat one to hold lure out of the way and the other to remove hooks. Really works well on larger lures with big hooks. Hard to believe somebody sold one.

+1 to this. Having two is like having extensions on your hands. quick and easy to release fish boat side.

I like mine alot. You can get "leverage" that you sometimes can't with a pliers. Worth the money

I'm not sure there's anything better out there? I have used them for 7-8 years and will not even get in another boat without mine along. They keep you away from the problem safely and have enough leverage to lift a 20lb fish from the hook (not that you would do such a crazy thing). They last as well.

I guarantee we have been able to unhook deeply hooked fish on rubber and blades faster and easier than other methods. Highly recommend.

Note to self: they don't work very good on the bottom of the lake. Use the lanyard!

Hope this helps,
