I own one. It can handle rough water. I spend most of my time on Tonka. Some of the bigger basins can get rolling pretty good on a windy day and I have always been able to run where I want to run. Have gotten a little wet when needing to quarter the waves from time to time but nothing to cry about. Would I have been on Mille Lacs these days? No. Handles the "Tonka Chop" too if you've ever experienced that. Not sure how rough you were thinking. I love the boat though.

I own a 2000 681vs and have always been impressed with what it can handle for its size, in 2 years i've only had 1 day where i got wet and thought twice about running where i wanted and that was a super windy day (30mph) on LOTW out in some bigger water. It handles great in your normal 1 foot chop, cruises right over it and dry.

What is the main differences between the 680C, the 681C, and the 681VS? I'm very interested in these boats but cannot seem to find ny information about them. Thanks.

If you go to Bass Boat Central's Ranger specs page they have all of the info you need.

Thanks MD75. I did find that info.:)

A question for all you owners of the 681VS...if youre the only person in the boat and you are standing back at the motor, is the boat still down in the water at the bow or is the hull raised up nearly out of the water? I'm basically trying to get a feel for the weight of the boat since most of my fishing is solo and done from the back of the boat trolling.

Unfortunately I have to ask these kinds of questions here since you cannot look at walleye boats down here in the South. I'm really interested in these boats but need some answers before I drive up North to see some of the ones I can find for sale. Thanks.

I have a 1996 681vs with a 125hp. I haven't had it in constant 2 footers yet, but hitting some barge waves and pleasure boat traffic on the Mississippi impressed me. Love the layout of the boat. I fish alone a lot, so it's perfect for me, but handles 2 very well. I fished 3 for muskies from my old 16 jon boat, so this would definately do that too. Has anyone put a small kicker on one of these for trolling?

I'm getting real interested in the 681VS but wondered if anyone that has owned the VS has also owned the 681C and can tell me their personal experiences from owning the C. Are they similar in the handling and ride? Specs say it measures 16'11" vrs the VS being 17'8". The VS can also handle a larger motor. Everything else seems to be the same in the specs.

I own a 681c and have fished out of a 681vs a lot. There really are not many noticable differences in them. The vs extra 10" makes it seem a little bigger but not enuff that I would make my descision based on that alone. They will both run about from 47-52mph depending on how they are equipped and loading. I run mine in waves that are consistently 3-4ft and sometimes larger due to large and heavy pleasure boat traffic. I have only been wet a couple times and have never really felt unsafe, you just have to pick your spots. I have had mine for 8yrs and would definitely go the same route if I was buying another one tomorrow. Hope that helps.

I'm now a registered poster and feel more comfortable with all these questions.:) I have found someone within driving distance from me that has purchased a 681VS so I have spoke with this person on the phone and plan on seeing his boat soon. Afterwards I'm sure I'll have more questions on the matter. The 9" or 10" difference in length wont be a real determining factor to me, I'm more concerned with the VS having the 6" deck right in front of the motor as I plan on trolling alot of rods off the back of the boat. So after seeing the VS I'll have more questions about how to set up a C for trolling with multiple rod holders on the back of the boat.:) Any ideas right now?!?
