| I´m planning my vacation to Chicago and i would like some tips on retailers. I´ve already located the big ones, Cabelas, Basspro and Gander Mountain but thats not really what i´m looking for. I fish mostley Northern Pike ( we don´t have Muskies in Sweden ) so i´ll looking for good retailers specialized in this area. If you have any tips on websites i´ll be very happy.
I´m from Sweden so please bare with me if my English is a bit off. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Smokeys is good and they have a lot of tackle and good employees to show you the lures. If you already know what you want go to Musky Tackle Online ( do a fast Google search) and you will get about 10%-15% off retail and no tax buying from IL plus free shipping offer. |

| Fishing Connection is a easy ride 25 minutes south of downtown in Tinley Park Illinois. He carries about the best selection of Musky equipment in the area.

There is also Fish Tech on the northside of the city in Morton Grove

| Mozzer, I know the big retailers aren't exactly the best for muskie tackle, but the Bass Pro Shops in Bolingbrook (20 minutes and an easy drive from Chicago) has some surprising stuff at times. We found Kraves there on clearance for $11.99 for example. |

| While your in town you should take the opportunity to get out musky fishing. There are quite a few opportunities available within 1-3 hours of Chicago. |

Location: Oswego, IL | Im from the area, I would strongly suggest to buy online a MTO, the prices at the places you mentioned are NOT that great. The only "deal" you would get is if your lucky enough to find one of them having a "pike/muskie" clearance rack. And the selectionis are very very limited. Just my 2 cents. Order online and have it shipped to where you are staying in Chicago, MTO can get them there in a few days. |

Thank´s everyone for your tips! I´ll probably visit Cabelas at Hoffman Estate, the family i´m visiting lives in South Barrington and that´s just 15 min away.
I would love to do some Muskiefishing. I´m just afraid that ONE muskie will ruin the fun of fishing Pike for all future. I´m traveling with my family so time is limited. Do you have any tips on gudies that can take me fishing? |

Location: Barrington, Il | Go to Anglers Internation in Palatine. Right on Dundee Rd. about 15 minutes or so from South Barrington. |

| Ask if anyone here is willing to take you. Plenty of places to go within a couple hour drive, Madison Chain, Pewaukee, and the lakes in Illinois. Should be able to find someone with an open seat. |
