Location: St. Lawrence River | In my English class I was assigned to write a 10 page research paper on a topic of my choice. So ofcourse I choise musky fishing. I was instructed to open my paper with a creative scenario introduction, this is what I came up with, half fictional, half memories. Might help the cabin fever, might make it worse lol...
Splash. My bait hits the water and I begin my retrieve. Plop, plop, plop goes my topwater bait, creeping and crawling on the top of the water, making noise and commotion. The sun is going down, and I put on my sweatshirt as the temperature begins to drop. “The big girls should be out to play soon,” says my fishing partner from the opposite end of the boat. I agree silently with a smile and a nod of the head, without ever taking my eyes off my bait. As I pull my bait from the water and take a moment to scan the shoreline for my next cast, I see the familiar rock pile that I’ve seen so many times before. “Watch this,” I tell my partner, “something will hit my topwater bait, I know there’s one hiding on that rock pile.” He chuckles while I make my cast, two cranks of the reel, and BOOM, a huge musky comes off the non-current side of the rock pile, and absolutely crushes my topwater bait. Instantly I feel the weight of her, as I get her to the boat she goes directly under it, as I expected her to do. When my partner finally got her in the net, an incredible feeling overtook my whole body, I had just landed a huge musky. She was so large I strained my muscles to lift her from the net into the boat. After a few quick measurements and pictures, I put her back in the water, she took off strongly. This is what keeps us coming back, keeps us addicted, feeds our desire and fuels our obsession. This is musky fishing. |

| Nicely done! Here's to hoping you get a good grade on it! Learning to write well, be it narratives like this or persuasive pieces (e.g., letters to your Congressman to enact spearing bans), will serve you nicely in the future. Everyone likes a good communicator. |
