Are you using the back of the screw eye to hold the tails in place? Looks like you are getting a bunch of people all excited for the ice to melt to start using these. I like the perch w/ wavy bars the best I think.

Thanks Guys

Todd, I should have a few at the FRV meeting..

Zach, I have two live perch in a 125 gallon tank that are the same size as the lure.
I actually took a picture of one of the perch and outlined the pattern in photo shop, than placed the outline in Illustrator on top of the outline of the lure and printed it.. than I outlined it with a exacto knive and made a template.

The screw eye in the back is for spinning it on the drying wheel.

Nice work Ben! Ever try a white or yellow bass pattern?  I think that would look great on your bait.

Muskyfix,

Those are all absolutely beautiful!!!

Love the perch, but that walleye pattern is SWEET, you nailed it:)
How are you doing your "walleye" eyes? Are you painting the pupil of a regular eye or is it all custom?
Nice touch

That is a really cool way to get a nice perch color. I have seen your tigers on youtube and only wish I could get something like that going. I think you must have one of the coolest aquariums around. I also wish I knew anything about photoshop. Walleye's eye is cool but I still keep looking at that wavy bar perch. As CUDSV said, pics don't do them justice. I can only imagine, I know I have the absolute toughest time taking a good pic and trying to make sure everything shows up. Don't be offended if I say I like these more than the past ones. I mean, painting is getting super nasty and it shows you've been putting your time in! Keep it up and keep kicking more baits out so someday one can fall into my hands and I can show these NY muskies what a bait from the Land of Lincoln is all about. I'm excited to see what happens when the big girls come out and play with these this year. I painted one like a channel cat my favorite so far.

Joe I did test one without the tail and it looked like it will troll without the tail.
It was only one bait so I'm not 100% on that, I will check a few more.

Sounds like I need to calibrate my monitor Thanks for the kind words. I've got a ways to go. You are creating some serious artwork on top of the fact that the action on the modivator is top notch. Hope to see you on the water soon...maybe I can get you distracted and swipe a few modivators while your not looking. Blarney's will probably be a good place to pull that off

Your welcome Tim, It took a long time to get the bait right and more then a dozen variables. The good thing about this lure is you could count it down and they stay there. I'm glad to see your first fish of the year on a Modivator.. I wish the bigger one you lost had made it to the boat. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Shawn thanks again for the kind Words..

got a couple brand new modivators wet today after i picked them up from Ben around 8:30 this morning. I moved about 6 fish on the bait including one that followed around and around and around haha. Also had one show up right as the bait was dropped in the water, these bad boys are fish magnets.

great action.. It could be worked with just by reel like the larger one, but has a much slower sink. I should have a bunch made in July.

Fished two of my Modivators hard yesterday. Lost the orange soft tail from the perch one on a short strike? away from the boat but didn't see anything and the 9$ Bass saw nothing. We don't usually fish that particular body of water till the fall and when we do it's a lot clearer than we saw yesterday. Hopefully I'll get my other Modivators in the mail (we have a rotating mail strike happening here in Ontario) before our friendly weekend tournament/boys weekend in a couple of weeks.

Finally got a Modivator fish on the Fox Chain after seeing allot of nice fish on them and misses. This one hit a clown color on the weed edges. The musky left a couple broken teeth in the bait.. 33 inch Musky

Very nice Ben ! Not a monster but still you're up two fish on Modivators to my zero fish on them

Hopefully this stupid mail strike doesn't interfere with me getting my modivators tomorrow or next week before I leave for Balsam Lake.

Very cool congrats on getting one on the Modivator on the chain. This is by far one the easiest gliders to use and we have had some follows on it and caught some northerns. Also the nice thing about the Modivator is that it runs a little deeper than your average glide.

I wasn't planning on fishing tomorrow but I guess I am, lol. Got some gear ready for tomorrow and next week's boys all weekend musky trip to Balsam Lake. Decided I couldn't go without my perch Modivator so it got a black Kalin's mogambo grub instead of an orange one as that's all I had that looked good on it. Cross your fingers that wherever we end up ..... I put a fish in the boat on a Modivator tomorrow!

So far I've set the hooks on it submerged floating log a couple of weekends ago and yesterday set the hook on weeds at the bottom of a shallow flat we were fishing (probably 5 ft deep) !! These run so nice and deeper than most as Doug mentions. We were skunked yesterday, I'll try my luck again next weekend on Balsam throwing modivators again.

Thanks, Shawn.
The Jr's will be be designed to work shallow. I have had some luck on letting the baits sink into pockets and ripping the bait out early in the year, when the weeds are not as thick. Weed edges will work the best for the regular modivator..

I'm getting close to being done on the foiled shad.

Well it looks like the stupid mail strike has me without the Modivators that are in the mail. I was hoping to have them for this weekends trip to Balsam Lake. I'll be fishing the couple I already have and hopefully be able to finally put some stink in the boat on one of these.

It looks like the government has stepped in and mail will be sorted today, hopefully we'll start getting mail again tomorrow. On Sunday I raised two low 40's musky on a perch Hellhound and going back over the weed bed later in the afternoon I decided that maybe the Hellhound rode too high on the water column so again the perch colored Modivator came out to fish these tall stringy weeds and stay down deeper since the two I raised earlier stayed down deeper back behind the lure. I managed to pull a high 30's pike out hot on the Modivator and had a quick strike and miss. So close! LOL

Ben. I have noticed with the larger glide baits that I have used, they do need to be a bit thicker to work proper ( or work to my likings). Keep up the incredible work that you do. Love the action of your baits!!! I have a few older baits of my own that need new epoxy. Think you might be up for the challenge? I'll call you with more info. It wont be much longer till things heat up here so let me know when you want to get out. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Took my buddy out musky fishing for his first time, had a follow and got his first musky - just a little guy but he was happy. We were fishing after a cold front and the wind was howling pretty bad. That 10" is KA. Lots of follows and missed chances too. Works very easily and deeper that your regular sized bait. I really like them and will be looking forward to adding some more to my supply. If you like the regular size modivator you will love this one. Great job on this bait Ben.

Holy! This was 5 months ago, I finally got some spare cash and msg'd Ben. Sent him the money today. Thanks Ben, love these gliders

Hey Trolling King,

I can see how you could confuse Ben and I. We are both so freakishly good looking and super sharp dressers

Ben,
Can't wait to see some of your work up close, especially the Modivator 10. Are you going to the Harper show or swap meet?

It must be the hair.

I will have a few at the Chicago Show.. I will be splitting a booth with Frank the rod builder.

Is the top lure a Jones from West Virginia? Hooked a nice fish on one here in PA a month ago.

I may be fat, old, bald and ugly, but I am one sharp dressed man

Guys, if you are going to the Chicago Muskie show do yourselves a favor and go see Ben and pick up a few Modivators. This bait has been a real "hidden" gem in our area the past year. Ben is a quality guy that hand builds an amazing lure....and if he is sharing a booth with Frank's Custom Rods you may walk out with a new rod too. Frank builds the best rods I have ever used. This could be a dangerous booth for my wallet.

some of those 5 dollar repaints brought good money when reselling them to the so called musky gods on this site (a couple guides and tournament people) you might want to take note of that before degrading somebodys work . doesnt look good for your own image! tell maritn thanks for the baits cause they just got a 5 dollar upgrade and off to the auction they go!!!!! besides the ones ill be using on st. clair

Giving a guy a compliment (FUBAR) that his bait is worth more then $5 Is NOT degrading anyone. You need to rewind.
