| Was interested in the St. Croix Downsizer mainly for Northern Pike duty and fishing larger jigs for Musky. Anyone out there have comments on this rod? Was wondering how it would work with casting a regular sized bulldawg for Pike?
Thanks. | |

| I bought one of these for my wife last spring. light, easy with a "stiffer tip" due to its shorter length. it has become hands down my #1 jerkbait rod. Love it! havnt thrown the regular dogs, but is great for the 5 oz super d's, think they are about the same weight/profile. the only negative i could venture to say is i lost 3 fish early in my use of it i think because it doesnt have the same play in the tip. after i realized i needed to lay into them harder, that hasnt been a problem. as for northern... yeah man, it rocks. just bought my wife a revo toro for it and am way pumped!! also bought one for my dad who has a bad elbow... great rod!! wouldnt recommend it if you are gonna throw anything over 4-5 oz though. only downside in my world is that it is my wifes, so i dont always get to use it. mabey i need one for myself...hhhhmmmmmm

Location: Columbus, Georgia | I have a Downsizer and like dinger; the Downsizer has become my #1 jerkbait rod. Burts, Sledges, Hawgseekers, and Suicks all perform very well when thrown with this rod. Smaller cranks, spinnerbaits, and spring-dogs (baby Bulldogs) and other small swim baits are also a pleasure to throw with the rod. I personally don't utilize the rod to throw baits that exceed the preferred weight range of the rod (I believe it's three/quarters to 2.5 or three ounces)

| I just bought this rod as a complementary to the jerk, the lipstick and the top and tail.
I like it for the flex in it, and tossing the medium hardhead, and some twitch bits. The only complaint i have on the rod is the handle wich in my opinion should be like the other rods. a bit longer and thikker.

| Amazing rod for little to medium sized twitchbaits, glider, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and bucks. Also cranks work on it.
For rubber it isn't the best choice. But it will cast regular dawgs in the shallow version without any problems.
If you pick up one, choose the split grip version. Its rear grip is a bit longer, so it will make throwing and working the bigger lures on its casting range way easier.
