how do you fish these and where do you use these normally? Also what season or weather conditions?

definitely for deeper water and summer and late fall patterns. They have a different thump and vibration that a standard depth raider. It actually feels flat by comparison. Kind of hard to describe unless you have thrown both of them. I troll with mine and do score with it. Good bait.

I meant to ask how do you fish them, what kind of retrieve-method? I read in Joe bucher's book that he lets them sink to the bottom and then rips them forward with an upward rod movement. Then he lets them sink to the bottom again + he repeats the process.

Is that the only way they work or do other guys retrieve them differently. I did cast it once and it has very little wobble compared to say the baby depthraider.

I have not thrown it much, most of the fish I target casting are not really deep. Deeper fish I troll. I suppose you can retrieve it in any manner you wish but it was designed to be counted down, whether to the bottom or wherever in between.

I only have one of these lures. It's not my favorite and I have many other crankbaits that are way more effective. If I fish the countdown DR, I will generally count the bait down to a depth slightly above the fish I'm targeting. If the fish are 25 ft down, I might count it down 22 seconds. If they're 16 ft down, 12-13 seconds, etc. Retrieve method would be straight back to the boat with some intermediate twitches and pauses.

at which speed of retrieve do they keep their depth? I wonder whether the diving lip, because it's the same as on a floating DR, doesn't make the lure dive deeper and deeper

I generally retrieve this bait just fast enough to create a wobble. If I count it down deep, say 22 seconds, I don't believe it's going any deeper than the depth I started it at. During the retrieve the bait gradually gets shallower as it approaches the boat (unless you stop it and let it sink again). I'd guess the deepest I've seen this bait near the boat (on a steady retrieve back) is about 11 ft.
