| What is your favorite new bait for this year? Any new ones you're dying to try?
looking forward to the wide glide........ |

| I'm looking forward to the new Lee Lures Mini Choppers, 4" Phantoms, and Mini Medussas. There's finally some smaller stuff coming out on the market this year for, which I think will be perfect for the pathetic fish I have in my area. I hope to be getting a new 9' TI rod so I can give that a try as well. |

Location: Canada | I have some gliders that I can't wait to try, one is from Yvonne Grise from Quebec and the other two from MuskyFix. The one from Ben I had him custom paint for me for a certain body of water we fish here later in the fall. A Salmo Sweeper and a couple of photo finished Krave Jr's (red shiner? and an orange bellied perch) round out so far the lures I've gotten new and can't wait to try. There might be a homemade glider included in another package of lures I am waiting for to arrive also. |

| The wide glide is a hard bait to use I for one do not like it. I also tried a sebile magic swimmer it rocks can't wait to use it in shallow water situations. Also got a sebile stick shadd like it too. Also got a few wileys and TI nokens can't wait to try them trolling although I hate trolling but that's how they are caught in my area |

| Apparently I am the only one excited to throw the Mag Twisted Tullibees I picked up in Milwaukee. Other than that I am also very excited to use my new XXH TI telescoping rod. I have thrown mag dawgs the past few seasons and finally have the equipment to be able to step it up with some pounders in the mix. I've also been throwing cowgirls but have picked up a couple supermodels to try this year.
In addition, I have about 20 basement baits I made this year that need testing. Everything from topwaters, cranks, spinnerbaits, gliders, to a couple of hardhead copies.

| Thanks very much Captain Larry! Besides some foils I have been able to stash away for myself it would have to be the new glider sent to me from a buddy that trades me in Virginia. He makes baits but is super small time. I met him from fishing tournaments and he is a really good stick. I have never seen a bait w/ so much big fish appeal than this new big glider. Thing must weigh 8 oz. I would love to show a pic but promised not to as he has some plans on selling them in the future. Big ole glider that is darn near bullet proof. Some of those boys down south can make some nasty baits! Other than that glider it has to be a new 10" musky rocket from Rodney Jones in Michigan. Rodney can paint to say the least! Last year my first 50" of the year came on a foiled musky rocket from him in June and I have been hooked on his baits since. Very expensive baits but they are super good. I have thinned out my selection to just about 50 confidence baits from the tons I used to drag out w/ me and never fished. Just about all are wood baits except for my new big ole glider from Va and some tooth scared Perchbaits that I'd never leave at home. I try to support all the small guys making super quality baits one at a time. I really think that the best lures come out of peoples basements, most aren't readily available and I like it that way.

| These two showed up in my boat last week and they are my first new biats of the season and they are cool. Time will tell but they look like runners to me.
The top bait is an MDR Chopper about 9 " long with a Cisco pattern. I really like this bait, and can really get it flashing on the twitch. Very interesting bait, and not really in the pattern of any of the pull baits I use currently. Goes down a little deeper, and wiggles as it comes up, and hangs pretty good. Right now it looks like this bait will go into the starting lineup, hooked in the forward line tie, it just looks to juicy to leave on the deck.
The lower bait is one of the Baker baits Capt. L. Jones mentioned, but I am guessing smaller size, although this one is 5" from the front of the bill to the butt?
This thing really zings on the crank, and so far have been able to pop a lot of brush and trees with minimum hangups. We'll check out the sturdiness quotient before warm weather, this one can probably play inside the treeline, good deal down here. .

it seems like FSF has actually tried the bait's he' posted. So, how do you get a favorite without trying her out? Sounds like having a best "girl" without trying her out!
FSF- by sturdiness quotient, do you mean using for skip-cast's?
FSF- Serious question: How do the two line ties change the action on that top one?

This one is easy, since they are my ONLY new baits they are clearly my FAVORITE new baits. I tried both line ties on the Chopper and felt the front tie clearly outperformed the second tie, as I interpret the action. Went and got soaked at Melton Hill today, up until the point I was so uncomfortable I hung it up, and the only fish I saw came up on the chopper so that was good or bad. Interesting thing with this bait, you can get a nice belly roll on the twitch, which with the paint job shown, makes it flash white and black, but it invariably rolls at the end of a long pull, too(without a twitch). It is just a real interesting bait. You know how most baits are similar to some other baits? I can't think of any other baits that really have this action. As to the sturdiness quotient on the Baker bait, I whacked it through a bunch of wood today, and haven't seen any notable changes. Some baits wear pretty fast when you start banging them around. Note the Grandma head in one of my other pictures. Thats what happens when you start serious bangin! |

Send me a PM, I have something for you. Those all are still in my go->to lure selection. Watching either of them in the water is seductively hypnotic. I really can't believe the amount of flash that they create. So far biggest has been 44", but have had much bigger fish up!
Have fun!

Where do you find that MDR Chopper? I saw it at the swap and didn't get any information on how to get one. With the price they were asking I would like to see some tank or pool video to see the kind of action. But it looked like a sweet bait on the table....

With the price they were asking I would like to see some tank or pool video to see the kind of action. But it looked like a sweet bait on the table.... Netman The bait FSF has was one of our color development patterns that Stan gave him when they went fishing recently. That color will definitely be in the line-up, just want to give it some black around the eye though. The picture doesn’t do justice on how the iridescence paints light up in the sunlight. Yes we did have our perch and sucker patterns at the Chicago and Milwaukee swaps, we were trying to get our cash flow going a little, think we drank it all up though.
They will be in this year’s Rollie and Helen’s catalogue, I have an order due there mid April. I need to firm up a deal with Thorne Bros. who will be carrying them also. We don’t have any pool video of the baits yet. I have sent out some samples to some people who may help with this. If anybody can help with this I can barter with baits.
We are still a little ways away from finishing our website; we do have a page on Facebook though, please search for WoodBridge Bay Tackle.
FSF: Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the bait! I’m glad you like it. Give that upper line-tie another workout once the weeds come up. On that setting it works really well for popping it in and out of weeds/structure.

| I've always been a big hellhound fan and finally got the chance to throw the new 10 incher in the perch pattern. I was river fishing down here in VA a couple weeks ago and boated a fat 43" mama. She absolutely hammered it. The bait sinks fast if you let it but can easily be worked near the surface like the 8" model. Love the lure! |

Mike,
I'm glad you answered netmans question, I was going to contact you and let you know to answer this thread again.
Does that mean we are keeping the pattern as is with the black eye and no other changes?
I knew it would bring up a fish. We can do two different versions of it too. Heck, we can do different versions of any of them.
FSF wanted that Cisco Chopper and I had one in our Black Diamond but he said lighter is better so I didn't give it a throw. But will next time out and water is warmer. The Black Diamond will be a fish getter also.

| I look forward to using the new mini chopper and will probably have to get a double dawg to tinker with. I think the mini chopper should be very good on the local rivers. From what I understand it has a very similar sound to the original chopper, but spins at a higher "RPM." Fine with me. Also, I would hope the hooking percentage should be as good or better with the smaller body. I'm thinking a teaser blade will look nice hanging off of a double dawg too. |

| The reason I can say I am excited and they will be my favorite new crank fr 2011 is I had a couple last season and the actions was killer in colors that rock here on LSC. The pics I added were favorites I have in other baits and know they will be chewed up this summer. Not trying to pimp out baits just answering question asked.
As for the Yvon lures I have looked at them first hand but have not run them I have talked to friends who have them and they love them they will be a great bait for deep water trolling on short lines. |
