I'm looking for a new rod to pick up at the Ohio Musky Show. Any REAL benefit of the Legend over the Premier? I'm not against the extra money,as I keep my rods for a long time.

Also split grip handle vs. traditional handle - is either one better, why?

If you have the money... Spend it. The legend has lifetime warranty, premier has 5 yr. And the legend is lighter etc..., .
Both are nice, I have a few premiers, and an unfished 9' legend now...
Dont think either is a bad choice...

XHF or HF? reason I ask is ripping pounders and such might be a little more comfortable with a full cork. I prefer a split grip for pulling 10's. I'd definitely go with the Legend, lighter and tougher, longer warranty.

Both are durable blanks. The LT's are lighter and have crisper actions while the Premiers tend to be a bit slower. The LT's should excell boatside with a thinner faster blank allowing you to turn corners faster in the eight with less tip deflection. The premier may have a benefit (being a slower blank and slightly more forgiving) in keeping lightly hooked fish pinned boatside.
