I have a 2004 90 horse Mercury 4 stroke. How hard is it to change the water pump impeller? I have not had any problems but have heard it should be changed every so often. I'm no outboard expert but change the oil, lower lube, plugs, etc. and am wondering if this would be something I can do myself.
Thanks,
Ken

Search you tube, there is some good video out there. I did it for the first time by myself last year. Make sure you have someone to help lift it when it is time to put it all back together. The trick for me was to move the prop back and forth a few degrees to get the spline shaft to line up.

Should it be in a specific gear when you take it apart? When you put it back together?
