Wanting to take my father out for walleye opener this year and looking for action water for walleye/smallmouth, size isnt big issue just want action. Looking at flowages on WI river such as Lake Alice, Mohawksin, Spirit River, Nakomis, possibly Rainbow Flowage. I have 18' alumacraft with 150hp, just looking for recomendations on which one to try for best action without losing a prop or lower unit. Any pros and cons of each?

You can ask these guys and they probably could help you out. I've never been on the river north of Wausau, so I'm no help.

Spirit and Rainbow really suffer sever water fluctuation throughout the year as compared to the others. Nokomis would be next in line for fluctuation with Alice and Mohawksin being relatively stable. Mohawksin and Nokomis for smallmouth and Mohawksin and Alice for walleyes. Alice is full of stumps compared to Mohawksin and Nokomis. Nokomis has some rock bars that need to watched for depending on water level. Mohawksin is probably the easiest to get around. I'd stick to Mohawksin first and Nokomis second. Good luck.

Thanks for the info; how is the boat traffic on Mohawksin and Nokomis for opener is it like bumper boats or just normal opener traffic?, and which has the better scenery/ambiance for my father?
