| Come on boys, whats going on up there? | |
| | |
| I'm leaving for the Flowage in about 15 minutes to check things out for you. I'll issue one upon my return Sunday evening or Monday morning (even if it is a big fat goose-egg. | |

| Fished the east side of the flowage last weekend - great fishing, poor catching as I took the old skunkola. Saw one and only one fish per day - wherever I happened to be fishing at 7:30-7:45 AM on whatever I happened to be using. Virtually no night bite was going on.
Water about 1-2 feet low and dropping with thick weeds on the bars. Water temps 70-75 degrees.
Saw one fish caught by another boat on East Cranberry, looked to be way up on top in the shallow slop.

| Lost the fish of a lifetime. We were fishing Popple Island I was using a gray and white weighted suick. My partner was using a brown bucktail. The weather was perfect for fishing on Wed. There was a front moving in, good cloud cover and wave action. The drifts were fast across the island’s weed beds. On the fist pass we had a double, me with a 28”pike and my partner with a 27”ski. On the second pass I caught another 28” pike and we both had follows by lower 40’s muskies. We then came around for our third pass, we again had follows, then I made a cast and worked the suick a couple of pulls then the fish hit, I set the hook and my rod doubled I yelled “fish on” I knew it was big. Before I could react my line went slack and I couldn't reel fast enough. The fish was coming fast right at the boat, with her head out of the water shaking, she was too fat to jump, and boy did that suick look small in her mouth. A moment later I saw my lure fly out. Bummer (the words that day were allot worse). We estimated it to be a high forties or fifty+ inch fish, bummer. The rest of the trip was typical Chip fishing for us. A couple of musky follows and a few pike each day. I did manage to scrounge up another 26” musky. Each fish I have boated this year has progressively been getting smaller, what’s up with that. Well at least I’m retaining my “pike master” rating. I hope to tangle with that big fish again sometime, maybe this fall with a sucker. All in all it was a good trip. Sorry, no Phipps report. | |

| Just got back...it's been really slow. One 38 inch tiger boated wed. Might improve this weekend with changing weather. | |

| Fished it Aug 23,24,25. Only fish came on a Yellow Tally Wacker the 25. We were in 3-5 ft of weeds on Cranberry. A 40 1/2" fatty. First time fishing the Chip, tough lake but I can easily see why most like it so much.

| Fished the Chip 4th thru the 8th. Had a few follows and one nice 39". Things were very slow until Saturday, maybe all the rain got them going. If you are heading up be extremely cautious the water is down nearly three foot.
Good luck, Ostie | |
