Would anybody worry about scent from a laundry room getting into there fishing stuff?

The reason I ask is that I'm currently converting a room on the first floor, that originally was converted from a bedroom to a laundry room before we bought the house, back into a bedroom. Now in the basement where the original hook-ups are is in a moderately sized room where all my fishing stuff is. So my question is, would you worry about a laundry soap scent getting into your fishing lures, line, etc? I don't want to go fishing and fish thinking my lures are a little too "fresh" for there liking.

Anybody have any thoughts? I'm I worried about nothing or is a legit concern?

It won't bother a muskie at all. Muskies don't really use smell to hunt. I doubt it would have any effect on a fish that does use smell.....Your boat partner and "the Ladies" will appreciate your spring time freshness.

I would if I were fishing for salmon but not musky. If you are worried about it, just wash them with some lemon joy and warm water. In the northwest, lemon joy is in about every boat for just this purpose, does a great job of cleaning and fish seem to like it. Lemon joy is even in all our tackle shops out here. An old toothbrush, some warm water, and a bit of lemon joy and you are good to go.

Have you ever smelled a bulldog? If they bite something with that nasty plastic smell, they sure aren't going to care about a little spring-time fresh scent.

One of the things I do when I tie my bass jigs is to throw a few pieces of Berkley gulp in the box with them. Eliminates the smell of the nail polish I put on the braid for the skirt.

Buy a cheapo bag on clearance at walmart or somewhere and throw it in the bottom of your boxes. Open it first of course.

That stuff could cover the smell of a rotting carp on the shore of a river in the middle of summer.
