| I am planning a musky trip to northern wisconsin this summer and would like to try vilas county. Any recommendations on a good numbers lake. How about the Manitowish chain? |

| You could try the Hayward Lakes area. Lots of good numbers lakes around there. We used to tear up the Spider Lake Chain and Lost Land/Teal for numbers. Some good BIG fish waters in that area too. Good luck---Jobu |

I'd agree w/ Sled - Do you really want to be tied down to one lake or a Chain? Try the Presque Isle area. If you don't mind being off the water, I'd stay at Skyview and explore from there. Besides you could always pick Adam's brain on potential lakes (Skyview owner) or even chat w/ Howie Meyer if he's in for a cocktail. Just don't ask either one for their favorite muskie recipes. Either would also graciously mark your lake maps. Adam even has some local lake maps available. He also may be able to put you into an on the water cabin.
See the WI spring hearing question #3 thread if you really want numbers lakes. There has to be reason for the DNR to lower the size limit to 28" from 34".

Increase the statewide minimum size restriction to 40 inches for muskellunge on all waters currently at a 34-inch minimum size restriction and decrease the minimum size restriction to 28 inches for muskellunge on ten waters: English and Mineral lakes (Ashland county), Bearskin, Booth, Julia, and Squaw lakes (Oneida county), Butternut and Solberg lakes (Price county), Spider lake (Sawyer county), and Upper Gresham lake (Vilas county).

| I would recommend North Twin in northeastern Vilas county. It is a great musky lake. Here is a link to a private cabin that I have stayed at a number of times that is right on the lake and has a dock with a boat lift. http://www.blueloonhideaway.com

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | I like esox' approach..stay mobile and check at some local bait shops for some lakes to hop between. If you're set on just fishing one body of water you might look at eagle river. |
