I am looking at new reels during this winter and am wondering if anyone could offer some insight in comparing the Abu Garcia Record RC60HC series vs. the Classic Inshore AMB6500. I am wondering which of these would be more versatile and/or durable in your experience being they are in a very similar price range. Thanks.

After sending my Record back to Abu 3 times in 3 months they offered to switch it out for an inshore. The inshore has held up well for 2 seasons now. I believe the inshore has ss gears which are stronger but I don't feel they are quite as smooth.

The Inshore also has a dual anti-rev, a bearing and a pawl for rock solid hooksets and an ADS spool designed for extreme loads. Both a Stainless steel pinion and main gear for extreme durability. It also has a Eversilk coated spool shaft for durability and smoothness. Two Corrosion Resistant bearings. Four-Pin adjustable centrifugal brake and a synchronized TiN coated levalwind system for an even line lay with 80-120lb test lines. In your opinion is this a more durable reel than a revo toro by design?

If you want an Inshore you better pick one up soon as they have been discontinued!

U won't be able to burn them, but with the S.STEEL gears they will last longer then brass gears.

Are they still making the inshore? I couldn't find the website, and Rollie's only has lefties in stock.

I could not find the line recovery of this reel. I thought I saw 28" per turn, can you confirm that with the 5:1:1 ratio?

They can still be found on the web a few places. tackledirect.com being one.

Pike, It's actually pretty simple - they just didn't sell. I'm not sure if they are still being made for the overseas market, I just know they will not be available in the USA.

The line pickup should be 24-25 inches per turn of the handle, with a full spool of line.

I just email my friend from Minstor Tackle from Malaysia and he said he could not get any more of the Inshore reels. No one wants to spend any $$$, everyone is looking for a $100.00 reel to use on DCG10-13, LOL, LOL, LOL.

Couldn't tell you about inshore's but I'm junking all my records. Seemed like a good real so I got 3, they just don't hold up to the use of big blades at all. Lost a giant fish last year when it locked up on the hookset. Unfortunately I've been seeing this with a lot of abu stuff. Great reals I'm sure for smaller baits but just not good for big stuff. My old C3 is the only real from them that's held up, that ones never been sent back in, had it 8-10 years. All three of my records have been sent in at least once up to 3 times. Personally I'm switching all my rods over to Diawa saltists. Hopefully those hold up better. Two lasted me all season which is better than any of my records have done. Similar price to a record also. Just my two cents.

The inshore has a cousin called predator, its basically an inshore, but with 6,3:1 gearing and thumb bar release
