I see Cabelas has "reconditioned" locators on their web site. Anyone have any experience in purchasing one of them?

Input appreciated.

Haven't done it on a locator but my friend did it on a minn kota and now problems. Some of those locators are missing a transducer. I would think they would have the same warranty but for $100 bucks less it is not really worth it. Might be worth it on a more expensive unit, $500 savings. I would call cabelas and ask them the details of warranty.

If you are talking about the HDS 7 that cabelas had in their ad for $999. My local Gandermountain has the HDS 7 on sale for $1049 NIB. So definately look around. I wouldn't buy one but that is just me.

MstormC,
I was looking at the reconditioned units at Cabelas as well, but there are other online sites that have new units at nearly the same price. Cascadegps.com has the HDS 5 base with 83/200 transducer for around $575, with $9 shipping. I think the extra $25 is worth it for the 2nd year of warranty.

Good luck,

Eric
