Location: Corning, Iowa | Can anyone give me the good, and bad about this reel? I'd like to throw heavy baits with this. I'm looking at the 400 series. Is the only difference between the 250, and 400, just the size? Thanks for the help. Doug |

| i have one.. it's a pretty solid reel. I wouldn't say it's as good as the more expensive reels but you are paying alot less. I put in on par with the Cardiff from Shimano. The one thing i noticed about mine is that the release button sticks. I looked at a few of them at the store and they ALL where sticking. but again, not bad for the price and would probably work well for the $99 price tag. Its not as refined as the calcutta, AC300 and it seems more crude, but it does the job. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I use the reels, and like them fine. I threw big cranks and 10" Weagles, etc and double 10 spinnerbaits (not inline) with the reels with no issues. I don't throw 16 ounce lures much, so no comments to that heavy a bait. |

The hardest part I am having is trying to find a shop that actually carries the Akena. I would like to check one out for my son, but can't find a shop that has them. Even the places that say are on the Okuma website, have other reels, and not the Akena. Hopefully I will have a job by the MN Muskie Expo, and I can find one down there.

Location: Ogden, Ut | I've had good luck with mine, but Like Steve, don't throw truly big stuff with it. It's probably not quite as smooth as the Induron was new, but seems to be quite durable so far. I've got almost a full season on it w/o so much as a hiccup. It's got a good drag and I absolutely love the double paddle handle on it.

| I have been very happy with my Akena's. Have had no problems and my clients have also been very happy with them. Great value for around $100. I agree that it is hard to locate retailers for the reels but worth the trouble to find.

| <p>Bought the 400 on Ebay last summer, $80 total delivered to my door in 3 days. Price = quality and it does a great job for the $$. Have put about 200 hours on it tossing bigger lures and have had no issues. Will be ordering another shortly as my boat partner took a liking to mine so he will be getting his own soon.</p><p> Mike</p><p> P.S. actually the thumb bar did stick a bit but I took off the side cover and there was a small burr on the release. Removed that and was good to go.</p> |

| I have never tried but after using the reel i would say probably not the best reel for Dbl 10's. You will have to work alot harder and i don't think there are many reels in the $99 range that will last very long doing it all day. |
