Before I started tying my own, I used to buy up all the white Mepps marabou baits I could find and dye them. I went to JoAnns Fabrics with a bait and asked the the girl at the counter what the best dye to use that would have good, permanent color and stay flexible and fluffy. 1 box would do multiple baits. Just mix a powder with warm water and let the bait sit in it for 15-20 minutes than rinse in cold water. I forget what brand it was, but it worked great (better than the colored Mepps that would bleed all over the place). They will look at you like your a total weirdo though......they might just be me though. I get that look many places I go

I use Rit Dye. You'll find it in fabric & craft stores & some grocery stores will have it the the laundry soap section. I prefer the liquid dye over the powder.
