And the new 9 footer other than 6 inches ? How does the action compare ? I love the 8' 6" but considering the 9 if the action is basically the same .

Thanks,

The Big Nasty and the Sling blade are quite a bit different when you really put them to the test. The 8'6" is way more parabolic down the blank, loading closer to the midway point. The 9 footer has a more of standard St. Croix flex with a stiffer backbone 3/4 up the blank. Which IMO the hooksetting prowess of the Big Nasty seems to be greater, especially with soft and rubber baits. I noticed when working a Dawg with a Sling, that when I got a half a hookset or had to adjust after a bite at the end of a pull, there was a greater set / fail rate. Where as with the Nasty, the botched set or half set seemed to still drive the points home. If you are trying to decide which rod to buy, I would go with the Nasty. It is less of a lure specific rod. If you have the means however, the Sling and the Nasty are a good duo to have in the boat.

How is the Big Nasty with Medussa's? Any pro staffers thrown the Double Dawg with the Big Nasty?

I have thrown both the Double Dawg and the Medussa with it. I stuck my 56.25 in Nov with the Big Nasty and a Double Dawg prototype.

I have thrown a few pounders with it, however I wouldn't recommend it day in day out.
