thanks guys for the help. my next question is what should i attach to my boat. ive been looking for two rails but no luck. My boat is alluminum and kinda iffy how to attach something. the clamp rod holders will not fit right. I had planned on getting two rails and 6 down-east rail mount rod holders. any idea what to put on my boat to attach the rod holders and where to get it. thanks .

You can get Ranger style rails at Cabelas (on-line). Or you can make your own rails. Kendor Marine Corporation in Wisconsin has all the parts you need to make them.

I have scotty's new quick release rod holders. They lock down to the boat and work awsome.
