A friend of mine requested i make him some popular colors of the homemade baits i am making. I thought i would share them all with you. I am going to take them down to the river for the final check tonight.

This bait is 9 inches in body length and 10 1/2 inches over all length. This is the first time I have worked with glass eyes, i must say its a bit different than working with stickers. When i get acess to a good camera I will post more baits and better pictures. These phone camera's just do not do the baits justice.

Many More to come!

Did you give one of these to Cpt Larry in November? I saw a bait just like this that was very well built and had the same hook set up. Very nice baits.

That style hook keeps your hook rash down...
Just like used on lokes. The muskies tend to damage the hooks pretty good in the net from thrashing.

Hey guys. I still need to take pics of the other eight colors. I just took them off the wheel yesterday. All you guys from st clair must think alike. These baits are for a friend that charter's there. someone had a question about the lip. They eighth inch lexan . i intend to put a bigger lip that will dive to depths of twenty or more. when i can access to a real computer instead of my phone i will post the rest of the baits. Thanks for all the kind words.

zach, Yes i gave captain larry a couple baits to try. But the body you saw is not the same as these this is a inch shorter and is not as fat. This bait should also achieve depth much easier. Glad you like the baits.

PepsiBoy,

For this bait i am sure if I shortened the lip I could get the bait to max out at 10ft for 100 ft of line. The action of the few baits i swam seems is fast and tight wiggle. but the above model really likes to dig. i am going to guess its in the 15 ft range. maybe as much as 20.

I have a 10.5 inch bait that i am getting ready to paint here soon that will likely. I think with the steaper lip angle and shorter lip it should be right up that alley.

Hard water makes dive curves challenging!

The hooks are Gamakastu. The doubles are the Extra Wide Gaps. I cant remember the treble. But it is not the 4x. They are magic eyes. I will dig up the code.

Sharp is not word to decribe them!

Here are some more that just came off the wheel late last week.

This bait is 10.5 inches long and weighs 6.5 - 7 ounces. The depth range should be in the 15-20 ft range. Maybe we will get some soft water one day and i can actually test it?

The pics do the baits very little justice, with the many layers of paint.

The lip is 1/8 lexan
stainless steel wire tie.
5 coats of epoxy
1 7/16 .092 Stainless screw eyes that are epoxied in.
handpainted glass eyes
The Gamakastu hooks should be coming in soon, I cant wait to stick myself. AGAIN.

Forgot to mention i call this bait "Bubba" for its fat body type.

The shad have 2 levels of scales its kinda hard to see.
here is the picture of the brown trout i was trying to paint. The first one turned out more blue than i wanted. The second was much better. The lateral line on the blue on is not what i expected.

The lips still need cleaned up. hope you guys dont mind.

I am about to run some gold and copper foiled baits this week. maybe i will have them finished this weekend. I am really curious how these will turn out. i likely going to paint a Natural perhc and a walleye pattern.

This body worked really well at St Clair last oct.
