Location: Ontario | Hey Guys,
I am in the market for a new boat and to please the family, I am going to have to get a fish and ski. I have been researching this for a while and am kind of having trouble making a decision. I would like it to be able to handle some big water and my wife really wants a full length rear bench for the kids to sit in when we are out with the family. Right now I am looking at the Crestliner 1950 SST. Does anyone else have any alternate suggestions?
Thanks,
Matt

Location: Indiana | I had a Triton SF19 i loved it. They discontinued that one but still have a 21' version. They also make a 190FS, not as many frills but nice. I have not ran the ranger fish and play models but they look great, many different models to choose from. If I were buying a fish and ski again it would be a Ranger, they look the nicest. If you can get the wife off of the bench idea a Ranger 619/620/621, serve your purposes very well, their Angler series is also nice. |

| Gotta get a Ranger Reata. Although, I convinced the wife to let me buy a Ranger 620. I'm able to put my wife and 2 kids on the boat safely. Plus, I can pull them tubing/skiing just as well as a fish and ski. Any rough weather and I know my family is gonna get home safe. |

| I have owned a Ranger Reata for 5 years now and find it to be a perfect combination of fishing/family boat. I really couldn't be any happier with this boat...big/sturdy enough for rougher conditions, and plenty of room for wife and two kids when it's family time. |

| I agree with Eric. I seriously considered buying a Reata. If the wife was more pushy I would have bought one but she likes the 620 just as well so I bought a 620. When both kids get a little bigger and want to spend more time out tubing/wakeboarding then I would happily sell my 620 for a 2050. Until then, we as a family and me as a muskie fanatic do just fine in my 620. You will not regret buying a Ranger Reata. Gorgeous boat that can handle big water. Go with a Ranger! |

| Make sure to check out the entire Tyee lineup from Lund . Aluminium and glass. Another option is the new Impact models ( 1875) 18'9 x 94" flip up rear seats. The entire Tyee lineup also seats up to 6 well with rear flip up seats and convertible bow area.Good luck. www.lundboats.com |

Location: Altoona IA | All boats mentioned above are nice boats. Also really like the Nitro 290 Sport. Has a ton of room and a large rear deck that you don't have to step on the rear bench to get to. Flip up rear seats are nice. IMO the performance (w/200 merc) and stability is close to the best I've ever experienced (Stratos, Lund, Triton). You can easily Muskie fish three people and pan fish or ski a family of five +. Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to find a picture of one online that isn't the same Blue model but they do make it in a variety of colors. Good Luck. |

Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | My brother has the Triton 21'....very comfy.....very fast w/ his 225 HO.....good for casting....I don't like it for trolling with the big back deck.....the Triton has a nice storage compartment for the binini which the Reata doesn't....a 620 or 621 with a full windshield would be the best everything boat if you can convince her it's just not for fishing.

Location: Ontario | From the research I have done, those Tritons look great. However, as you said, those large back platforms will make it difficult to troll!
I understand the 620 and/or the 621 are the ultimate boats according to a lot of people on here, but I need the additional seating of a Fish and Ski. A lot of times we want to go out with friends and their kids so it wont be uncommon to have 6-8 people (half kids) in the boat. If I go Ranger, the only option is the Reata, but without that back bench, it might be a tough sell.
What about the Nitro 290 Sport? I wont be using the boat more than an average of 1-2 days a week throughout the summer and even less in the spring and fall, so it wont be getting beat up a lot. Also, 80% of the time I will be on smaller lakes, so it wont be pounding big waves very often, but I also dont want to be limited when I need to fish the big water. I really do like the layout of this boat, that is why I am bringing it up. Any thoughts?
Thanks again, these posts have really helped,
Matt |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I have an SL 210 Skeeter thats a good family boat and works real good as a muskie boat. I would have gotten a Reatta, but it was about $10,000 more.. The storage sucks but I can do 68-70mph and it's a really dry ride. Pretty nice ride.
My next boat will be a serious muskie rig.

| I own a Ranger Reata as well and that is what i would suggest for sure. I was in the same "boat" as you last year. i found that the reata does everything well. I have been completely impressed by this boat in every way from Family boating to fishing. |

Location: SE Wisconsin | Bought a Lowe 175 Fish n Ski' with a 115 Optimax back in 2005 and have never had any issues with it. Deep V so it handles the big water well and has no problem toting the fam around or skiing / tubing behind it. Easily fishes 3 adults. I agree 100% with Steve, get what's best available to suit you and your family for your budget. |
