Looking for a vacaction destination next june to take my wife and two young kids, plus my parents. I'd like to fish muskies in the morning and fish some bass/walleye/panfish with my dad and kids during the day. Looking for a smaller lake we can figure out quickly and has some good variety. Did lots of looking around and Wildcat seems like a good fit. I realize its more of an action lake for muskies which is fine. Anyone agree or disagree or have better suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help.

Wildcat would be a good choice. It's one of the more popular lakes in the area, and one of the few that receives regular supplemental stocking. It's also more fertile in comparison to most other area lakes, so growth rates and average sizes of fish would probably be better than what you'd find elsewhere.

You might also consider Van Vliet. It's very fertile, perhaps moreso than Wildcat. Abundant weed growth and a healthy food chain should provide plenty of opportunities for quality fish of all species, along with the possibility of the occasional trophy class muskie, as the lake is connected to Presque Isle Lake.
