  • Musky Innovations "Double Dawg"
  • Musky Innovations 12" Shallow Invader (not until Fall 2011)
  • 10" DD, DDD, and Hellhounds
  • Big Game Scuba Divers

So far, these are the new things that I've heard about and am interested in...

What other new products have you heard are coming out this year?

Saw a Double Dawg the other day...looked pretty sweet. The tails are opposite each other, so I'm hoping they'll foul with the back hook less than on the dussas.

-10" Shad Diver hybrid crankbait with soft tail
-10" Tubby Jr tube lure
-Switch Blade spinnerbait. 500+ skirt color combinations in one spinnerbait! Under $20

I know I am missing something but the above is about 150 new SKUs added to Tackle Industries for 2011. I will be at the MI Musky show and my lures and rods will be at most of the major musky shows in the Top Predator booth and my rods will be in a few guide booths for sale. Otherwise Musky Tackle Online http://www.muskytackleonline.com will have almost everything I make if you can not travel. Of course you can also buy direct on my websites but MTO beats my MSRP so buy from Aaron

I am not at home right now otherwise I would post a picture of a double dawg, although most of mine are far from mint condition. Either way I have been using them for a couple months now and I have to say, WOW, they are just incredible. Musky Innovations does it again!

Kyle at Big Wood Musky Lures is going to have some of my snake skin crankbaits, Viper Minnows, at the shows. The blanks are cedar that are sealed, I used .092" 1.5" stainless eyes screws that are epoxied in, 3X stainless split rings, and VMC 9626 4X strong 5/0 hooks. The lures are finished in 6 coats of epoxy and the diving lips are held in with two .062" stainless pins. Each lure comes with a piece of the actual skin that was used on the lure. Too many guys don't believe me that the lures aren't painted. They look 'pretty' but they're built for hard fishing. The lures Big Wood Musky Lures will have are the sea snake, python, and cobra. I'm working on getting some rattlesnake skin so hopefully Kyle will have them before the show.

You can check out more pictures of them on this link to the basement builder's forum: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=58...

The Double Dawg is the real deal! I love my dawgs, but on some lakes the fish have started to look twice.. Ol' Brad Ruh sent me a walleye double and first day raised 11 missed on on the 8 and stuck a nice heavy 50+ - Caught a couple more 43-45's then in mid november, caught my fall pig on it! It will never leave the boat except for repairs. Still has the great wobbled dive and rise like a mag dawg but when it juts out on the side the inside tail seems to pause, then start up again on the drop. It is sick for sure - Get some at the shows.... Unless I grab 'em all - (insert demonic laugh here)

I have no MI sponsorship or special deal - I do get to try out new stuff due to the fact I am on the water more than the average bear, and I offer a constructive .02 cents and I maintain respectful relationships. As for the Double dawg, It is the same concept as many double tailed lures, however it has the same action as a dawg. I have used and occasionally still do use all the other rubber type baits from Big Joes, Suzies, R.Hairy, Super D's, etc. They all have their unique cadence and movement and all have their time and place. Brad Ruh, knows there has been ups and downs over the years with construction and quality after moving the manufacturing to asia. That's why he has put so much time and effort into revamping his dawgs so much over the last decade or so. Besides, If any of the other companies moved as many units or had the demand MI does, they would most likely manufacture overseas as well!

W e will have the new Cedar Creek(Formerly Talonz) Fat Shads at the Pastikas booth. These are 5 inch wire through deep divers 3/4 inch thick. Nice tight shad shimmy. Also new 8 inch Claws in Cedar models there. We are bringing 24 of the little Rippin Minnows as well. These are real cool 4.5 inch deep runners for those early season southern lakes. The coolest new baits we will have are the Shallow suspending 4 inch Rippin Shad . Ill have only 24 of those as well. Here are a couple of pics of the little Suspending Shad in a Bluegill pattern and an 8 inch Claw in Asian Carp. Mike

I agree with Jerry. I was also lucky enough to get the double dawgs as well this fall and instantly loved them.

Not as "Up and Down" as a regular Mag Dawg when you rip them, softer action, slower action. The double tails really slows the bait down. 1st day out moved a ton of fish and lost one...day two tore them up...caught alot of nice fish on them this fall. Gonna be another must have bait in the ol' tackle box.

Might as well also throw this in as well....

I will have my new slightly heavier 9 ft. heavy rods, now strong enough to bomb pounders and other big rubber as well as bucktails and anything else in your box, the fast tip helps with smaller baits, lightly hooked fish, and figure 8's as well.

I will also have new colors as well as the standard colors of the Shadillac, along with FLOATERS as well for the trollers or for skinny water fishing.

John from Stealth Tackle and myself will also have plenty of the Hulcano's Harness's as well, along with many other of Stealth Tackle products.

Hey everybody I just wanted to share with you one of the coolest new lures I have seen hit the market in years. The new double tail Dawgs from Musky Innovations. It is no secret that I am a Bull Dawg nut, however the new double tailed dawgs truly give you a whole new aspect to your soft plastic lineup. Since the first prototypes hit my boat in September they have been consistently producing big fish. One of the most exciting things I have seen about this bait is just how many fish we have caught in areas where numerous other soft plastics, including regular dawgs, have already been casted. Here is a monstrous mid 50 I caught on a double tailed pounder in November.

Looks good Spencer! Looks like my Dussas will have some competition next year. I shoulda cast that one the other day to see their action for myself, but the bait sure looked good. I like the tail orientation to the rear hook, which is the only drawback to the Dussas, IMO; too much fowling on the tails/rear hook.

Hi, I know we won’t be in time for the Chicago show, but possibly some for the later shows and definitely available before spring. We’ll have a new dive-n-rise jerkbait called the “MDR Chopper” available. It’s 9.25” long x 1.3” wide and just over 2oz. It uses the same solid plastic construction method as other lures I’ve been involved with. It has a dive and rise action with some wiggle. The two line ties effect the steepness of the chop and wiggle.

Thorne has a link on their message board about the new Dawgs, and also mentions the price at $21.49.

The specs on this bait put it in-between the Pounder and Mag Dawg. For those who have fished the double dawg, would you agree.. bigger than the Mag but slightly smaller than the Pounder?

All new plastic ACE Sweet Shad, Fat Flipper and Midget Fat Flipper all on show for the first time at the Chicago Show, booth #12. Made in the by the Sledgehammer guys in Chicago, totally manufactured in the USA. Bodies by Sledgehammer, Hooks by Eagle Claw, Split rings from Worth, even the box they come is made in the USA! We will have lots of colors plus some one offs, can't miss us as the guys from Sweden are sharing, Kjelle 'Stalker' Lundberg and PA Hogberg.
The prototypes have already caught Baltic Pike, European Zander and Trahira (not sure of spelling but, the picture looked like a 20lb Piranha!) from French Guyana

Trueglide has a new dive and rise out in 2011 called a Rumor. It's about 10" and only saw a walleye pattern. It was all I ever needed for LOW and related area for day casting. I pulled it down to about 8ft and it wobbles and rises slow. It's a cast resin bait that is buoyant and durable. A really nice bait to use on windy days. I hope he has more than one pattern.

Big Wood will be featuring nearly all exclusive baits that were proven successful by a select few and are making their inaugural debut at the Chicago Muskie Show. Just some of the styles making the trip posted here.

The coolest new bait I have used in several years is the Rumor that TrueGlide has been testing this year. The bait is a dive and rise but also has great action as a chop bait. The detail and flash on the finish is great, we tricked several big fish this fall that followed other baits, really fun bait to use. I heard they will have them at the Chicago show.

The snakeskin baits will be priced at $60 for the show. More are on order, but they take some time to make... I'm sure whatever I have left for the show will sell out there. Pictures just don't do them justice.

Does anyone have a pic of the new Musky Mayhem Hurricane spinner? Is it inline or safety pin style? Supposedly 12" long with 5 blades.

I looked at the ad again in MH and you can see what's going on with it. Double blades in front of head, double blades on arm, and large thumper at end of arm.

Judging from the MH mag add, the hurricane is sort of similar to the A-Team Assassin X spinner bait only with double blades on the head and 3 other blades on the safety pin part. It looks cool but thats the only picture I have seen of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but The Hurricane that I've seen is a safety pin style with the lower arm essentially a dbl Cowgirl, a large blade at the end of the top arm, and two blades in front of that large blade on the top arm. Has been seen on tv, or at least a similar prototype has.

That's a Newman Lures bait called "Callin' Big Mo". Talented bait maker for sure.
12 1/2" traditional through wire (not a bait cut in two and glued back together with a wire inside) Giant, wide metal lip that runs hard and achieves depths of over 30 ft!

http://www.bigwoodmuskylures.com/lures.php?cat=crankbaits&make=Newm...

If you like custom crankbaits and are going to Chicago, I'll have close to 100 exclusive cranks, mostly through-wire with metal lips.

Phil - 12/18/2010 10:23 AM

Phils baits don't get enough recognition! He makes some great baits that catch fish! His gliders have put quite a few fish in my boat! Phil is a great guy as well! He is my neighbor every year at the Butler PA fishing show! Keep up the good work!

Tackle Industries will have rods and lures at the Chicago Show, WI and MN shows this year in the Top Predator Booth. Rods will be at the $110 special too. Tom also wanted us to send him some of our SuperD lures that are in the wrong packaging (poly bags) and they will be running specials on those too. Good chance to get a great swimbait with the coil harness in it for less. Should be about 50% less than the competition Magnum and Regular swimbaits. Good deal and I will be sending him my best colors in those too. They will also have my others lures too.

Kevin Cochran will also have the telescopic rods in his booth at the Chicago and MN musky shows. He will also have them available at his place in Bemidji, MN if anyone wants to see them.

Looking at the Hurricane off the top of my head i see, extra blades that are not cheap, the wire is also heavier. I think there is an extra tie of flash on there, plus a quality swivel, extra clevises, more lead/weight. The one big factor to consider as well is that there looks to be alot more labor involved in one of these than a standard bucktail or spinnerbait. I dont see myself running out and buying every color, but I will buy one to try out. Heck if it makes the difference in putting a big fish in the boat vs coming home skunked it becomes priceless! How much is a sucker these days that is worth one fish (maybe)?

I took a look at the Hurricane and its price and was thought it was a little higher than what I expected. You always hear lures are tools. There are ones you use all the time and then ones you leave in the box. If you plan on using it a lot then its worth it. If not then probably not worth the cash.

I know I would use this lure a lot but I wonder how well it holds up after a fish chomps on it. A big fish would be worth the price.

Add another person that is going to wait in line for a Trueglide "Rumor". I threw one at the Frank Schneider Tourney - I think it was "Red Bridge's"(see previous post).

That bait moves! Guy that let me try it caught a 51" in the tournament with it-so you know it works.

Joe makes great baits, just hope he doesn't sell out too fast this year, I need one(hint, hint Joe- make more).

I am also gonna pick up a Typhoon. Cool enough looking to get my attention.

I will have a bunch of really cool and some unique custom colors at the show in all sizes and styles.

Also I will have my own soft plastic glue for repairing baits, the stuff that melts the plastic. I will make a video on how to use it over the next couple of days and post it on Muskie First video section.

And I could not let John from Stealth Tackle be the only one with boat towels!

Stop by and see me, by the entrance to the seminar hall.

I finally crawled out of the bait cave for a minute. Chicago will be the release of my new Lee Lures "MINI-CHOPPER", which is obviously a smaller version of my regular "Water Chopper". This bait will have all the "bark" of the original, in a bite size! I will only have eighty of them available for this show. 20 each of four colors (black holo glitter, firetiger muskie, black/orange flame, and loon) No plans to make more as of now.

I will also have a few new colors in my other lure styles as well. Will try to post when I take a few pics.

See ya there!

Thanks for your interest! They will be same as the regular sized Choppers at $30. If anyone is curious the hooks on it are size 3/0 for comparison. They are 4/0 on the regular sized Choppers. Hooking percentage was terrific on this bait!
