Many of you have met my best friend Sue and enjoyed her legendary cooking and hospitality at the Hideout, or spent time talking with her at the shows.
She's having a very tough time right now, and I'm sure she could use some cheering up. We took her by ambulance into the hospital very early this morning with a very sudden and violent onset of abdominal pain (she's very tough and was completely unable to even move), and it hasn't improved as of this time. CT scan seems to have told the story, now it's a waiting game to see where it goes from here. This on top of recovering from eye surgery last week.

We'll know more by tomorrow, and I'm sure with the good care she is getting the solutions are forthcoming, but right now she's in a world of hurt. I'll print out this thread and take it in to her before her second battery of tests and a confirming CT in the morning; hearing from her friends at MuskieFIRST will most certainly cheer her up.

Here's mine:
OK, Sue, let's get this under control and solved so you can heal up fast...we have icefishing to do! Get better, Beebs...

Here's to feeling better soon, Sue. You don't want to leave an old fart like Steve wandering around out on the ice by himself.

By the way, I've been calling my sister Beebs for 49 years. No wonder we've gotten along when our paths crossed.

Sue,

Steve still owes me a few guide dates and a weekend at the hideout from auctions long ago... It was my understanding that your cooking would be part of that deal. Nothing against Steve of course, but something tells me the food and hospitality just wouldn't be the same. And there's nothing better to me than muskie fishing with my best friend Samantha, so I mean this when I say it: Get better, and soon. A crochety ornery old fart is nothing without his best friend...

Best wishes Sue for a definitive answer from the diagnostics and a speedy recovery thereafter. Not feeling well is no condition to be in when there's ice that needs holes drilled in it. A few fillets should perk you right up...hospital food is no way to speed a recovery!

Sue,
After talking with you and Steve at Tri Esox last year about your situation (similar to my wife's), you've often been in my thoughts since the show. She too has had a rough 2010 with, coincidentally, some concerning news arriving from the Dr today. Shortly after leaving the Dr's office, you again came to mind with hopes that you were doing better than my wife. As you have been in the last 11 months, you will be in our thoughts and prayers and we'll see you in January. Get well soon.

Hello Sue,

Glad your home and I bet it feels better sleeping in your own bed too. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Don't know you, Mam, but wish you a speedy recovery. Any woman that can put up with a fishing nut has to be something.

Many thanks to all for the prayers, words of encouragement, and advice (cheese curd warning ). Started back to work today and so far so good. Have a few weeks to prove the surgery solved the main problem, but still have to continue treatment and looking at getting back to some exercise and maybe icefishing if the snow isn't too deep to drag through.

As for the cheese curds, got some little smokies brewing in Sweet Baby Ray's sauce for later...have to start trying more 'real' foods again. Wish me luck!

Thanks again and hope you all have a very merry Christmas!
