After about 5 years of use, my Cabela's guidewear could use a wash.  Label states that it can be washed and dried.  Wondering if anybody has had any bad experiences with this with regards to water repellency before I throw her in...

No trouble at all... Don't use regular detergent. Use soap designed for Gortex. The stuff BNelson suggests is good, abd there are other brands. Outdoor retailers like REI, cabelas, Bass Pro, Gander, etc. sell it.

As Brad and Chad state, be sure to use a specialized GTX detergent. But afterword, don't forget to reup the DWR with a spray-on applicant (also from Nixwax) Gore does not recommend the wash-in DWR, (not to be confused with the Tech Wash, which they do recommend), but rather the spray-on variety. I do mine once or twice year...clean Gore-Tex is happy Gore-Tex!
