| Anybody have any tips for wire forming?Im making a thru wire bait but cant seem to make the bends i need.Are there any home brew tools i can make? |

Location: KY | Round nose pliers are your best friend. You can drive nails into a block of wood and cut the heads off for a template. Softer wire will be easier than spring tempered.
Drive two nails into a piece of hardwood just close enough to get the wire between them. Bend a kink into the wire then flip it over and bend the wire all the way around the nail. This will get your loops started. Finish by wrapping with pliers.
I like to break the tag end of the wire rather than cut it. Cutting the wire leaves a sharp edge. You can easily break the wire by bending it back on itself. |

| why not use screw eyes. Wire going all the way in the bait and out is takes time and lots of extra work. Unless your you use soft wood screw eyes really do work I'd say 99.9% of the time. You use good screw eyes and go in far enough you should not have a problem. I have never had a screw eye pull out and I've goten some very nice fish. It happens bu rarely. |

| Thanks for the info guys.I will get some pliers for sure.What is everyone using for wire anyway?Im using straight 0.51 ss pre ringed wires,they are so stiff,really hard to form. |
