I'd like to be able to listen to the radio in the boat from time to time, but I don't want to mount a permanent radio. I have brought some portable radios into the boat and have gotten almost no reception. The boat is aluminum, which I suspect is the problem.

Has anyone found a way to get decent radio reception from a portable radio in an aluminum boat?

Thanks.

Haven't had any problems in my boat. You may try getting a sirius satellite radio.

The boat may be part of the issue. Also where the radio is located compared to where your trolling motor(s) are and your Graphs etc... I have a Lund with an AM/FM/CD mounted inthe dash and the recpetion on certian stations can get wierd when I run my toliing motor. I had this installed after market so I did the portable thing for a while and had isues similar to what you are speaking at times.
