The 2010 Spring Bay Resort Fall Outing got underway this afternoon with everyone arriving safely and with many enjoying a few hours on the water before the camp fire. Water temps are in the mid 50's and fish are being found near big baitfish schools while many are still holding tight to the structure.

Watch for updates daily and some on the water video over the next few days!

It was a tough day out there for everyone in camp today. Wind was straight out of the west and howling 25-35 mph, making boat control quite difficult. A few fish showed themselves early with a front moving through by 10 am only to make way to clear skies and the increasing winds. A few fish showed themselves this evening, a true giant showing herself for us this evening on a db 10, but she just wouldn't commit on the 8.

Tomorrow is calling for 5-10 mph winds out of the SE with mostly sunny skies. Conditions like that should make a lot more structure fishable.

Well the coffee is on but Tonts is still making animal noises. I will have to get him up soon ,don"t know how much fire he had last nite. We will hit it hard today and hope for a hookup.

Well the wind held off today and everyone in camp had the freedom to roam the lake. THA4, Top H2O and I headed east and worked our way back towards camp. We moved at least six different fish, seeing a few multiple times including the tanker from last night. The weather was absolutely spectacular with very little boat traffic anywhere we went today. AKA partlycloudy stuck a 44 this afternoon on a db 10 putting him on the board for the largest fish and is leading the camp for the free week stay here at Spring Bay Resort.

Weather looks to be nice again tomorrow with winds WNW maxing out at 17 mph. We'll enjoy dinner at the Landing tomorrow night at 7:30 on Spring Bay!

Tonts and I are home now and wondering what went on Sat. We had some action Sat morn before we left one hot fish and lost a 48" at boat side she hit on the first turn but pulled off two seconds later.

The fish activity seemed to have picked up yesterday even with the high winds. Top H20 lost one on a Bulldawg while Rudy and our boat managed to go round with one of those Lake Vermilion specials, nothing wanted to commit to a bait though. Dan Peterson boated a beautiful 36 inch Pike.

A big thanks goes out to Steve, Dayis, Joe Amundson and the whole Spring Bay Resort staff for another great outing! Everyone enjoyed drinks and a fish dinner at The Landing on Spring Bay Resort. Bill Fassig (partlycloudy) won a free weeks stay at Spring Bay for his 44 incher caught on Friday. Thanks to James Reuter for donating Double 10 Glittertails and coupons towards future bait purchases!

To book your next trip to Lake Vermilion, call Steve at Spring Bay Resort.

Being my first time to a MuskieFirst outing, it was nice to be able to put some faces to the names/screen names I’ve been reading about for the last two years. You’re all a bunch of great guys, no matter what crap you give each other in the forms. The ribbing always makes it interesting.

On this fifth trip to Spring Bay and always; I want to thank Dayis, Joe, and Steve for everything. Steve went out of his way to try to put me on a fish and I really appreciate it. Catching that 36” pike made my trip anyway. It’s going to be tough stuck in Lincoln, NE waiting until my next trip in June.

It’s hard to believe that anyone reading this form can join in on your outings, the free food and super deals on rates given by Joe and Steve, all without an invitation or anything. Anyone with an interest in going should just do it. You won’t be disappointed. And if you’ve never been to Spring Bay Resort before, be prepared to be a repeat customer. It’s unavoidable.

Thanks again to all.

now that was a good time despite no friggin' fish in the boat!the campfire events still have my sides sore from laughing, what a riot!i should of written down the unending stories so i could make a comedy show!i'll definetly be back next year,if i fully recover from the beating the fish gave me plus the grueling campfires.louie,we never saw the 48"er or the other one either but we did raise 3 fish and i lost a small one on a bdawg.late saturday afternoon i really screwed up bad on the biggest fish ii've ever personally seen, what a sow!i gave steve a pinpoint location so hopefully we'll get to see a picture of her soon.anybody who enjoys a good time at a top notch resort should sign up next year, you're gonna have a ball!a quick story,on friday morning ryan was throwing a weagle over some weeds off the back deck of my boat. i hear a big splash and he blurts out "oh sh!!. i whirl around expecting to see him fighting a fish but instead i see him looking UP as a juvenile eagle is flying away with his bait!!!he jerks it as a natural reaction and it comes lose and the eagle lands in a tree looking for his stolen meal.thank god he didn't get a hook in that critter!so now when you see a new member named "eagleweagle" you'll who it is and how he got the name.

I'v been reading the site for a few years now and you guys talked me into starting to post, so here I am. The Spring Bay outing was a great time at a beautiful resort. They run a first class place, if any one questions attending this event your missing out. Its a great group in fact I still find my self still laughing about some of the stories that were told. I got to see the follow that Rudy had ....WOW, just to see that girl made up for the tough fishing. Good luck to everyone on the rest of the year hope you all get a few more fish.
