| Historically, have you guys had better luck during major periods or the minor periods?
Looking at the solunar forecast for this weekend... I see tonight (friday) the sun sets at 6:23 and moon sets at 6:30, that ought to be primetime... am I right?

Location: Maple Grove, MN | I believe that the solunar majors and minors people refer too actually have more to do with moon-overhead and moon-underneath than the sunset and sunrise times. And each day there are usually two minors and two majors, one each in am and one each in pm. I am not sure exactly how they are computed so I just get the book.
There is no doubt that majors, minors, sunset, sunrise, moonset, moonrise, moon phase and weather conditions can all help predict fish activity levels. But still one never knows what the fish will do until one is on the water.
I have caught many fish in all the "peak" times and also many at "non-peak" times. I have also caught fish in all kinds of weather conditions - both good and bad. The only 100% consistent thing I have ever seen is that if one is fishing, one has a chance to catch fish. Beyond that, all bets are off at least half of the time.
This is what I have come to believe:
1. It is fun to look at the activity predictors and they can help build confidence before one gets on the water.
2. The predictors do often help determine the best fishing times during a particular day, but not always.
3. There is never a guarantee that the fish will bite or not bite.
4. Which predictors(s) will be the most accurate on any particular day on any particular water is a guess at best.
5. It is often best to go fishing when it works with the rest of your life and not worry to much about the predicted best time(s).
6. Fish do what they want and when they want. They are not always predictable.
7. Except for a super fat 21 inch Largemouth Bass, I got skunked this morning and thought the Muskies would be active. Wrong yet another time.
8. I look forward to the day that I stink at fishing only half of the time.
Just my opinion. Good luck all.

| Pay very close to the major and minors along with moonrise and moonset. We seen ALOT of activity and caught the majority of our fish this year during one of those periods. It's very powerful. If you choose to ignore it that's fine too. |
