Location: Northwest Wisconsin | Heading down to the Brooklyn Park area for the weekend to dog/cousin sit and was hoping to maybe tag along to do some fishing if someone has room/willing to take me. Uncle does have a boat but wouldn't be comfortable to take it unless my cousin came along , can't afford to be replacing anything if something went wrong. Doubt my cousin will be wanting to fish with it being his senior home coming.
Also wondering about shore fishing in the area. I have my MN licenses/stamps and will fish for whatever. Just want to be able to get out and do some fishing.
I'll be heading down 35 out of Superior/Duluth any musky shops along the way a person should check out?

Location: Blaine, MN | IF you are looking for a shop to spend some time and have a chance at getting into a few nice conversations you gotta check out Thorne Bros new shop. Only about 4 miles West of 35 in Blaine. Just plug 10091 Central Avenue NE Blaine, MN 55434 into your GPS or mapquest it.

Location: Richfield, MN | Thorme Bros is a must place to go. All the guys and gals there are great to talk with. If you are inot fly fishing as well the have a huge fly fishing assortment.
Also I was chatting with a guy the other day that was from Forest Lake and he said that a must place to go and look at there musky selection is a place called Mike's on 8. It is somewhere in the Forest Lake area. You can google it up and find the place. I know I need to stop there someday and check it out. BUt it is something like 30 to 40 miles from my place so it is not like I can just swing by. But from he said it is truly a musky fishermans heaven!!! Chek it as it is somewhere just off 35 in the Forest Lake area. Give it a try and if you do please report back on this posting and let me know what it is like. Or you can just PM me what you thought of the place. Maybe that will get my blood turning and force me to go OUT of way to get there soon!!

| if you havent found a ride
lake Nokomis in Minneapolis has tigers and nice ones it fishes well from shore done it many times after work,,,twin bladed spinnerbaits especially willow CJ's or a hard vibrarting shallow running crankbait like a manns plus 1 is about all you need.
if you want purestrains and dont mind sucker fishing lake harriet has a couple piers and a deep shoreline area where bank suckler fisherman sit, there are numerous bait shops that sell suckers although I dont know which ones specialize in the larger ones.
a word of caution if you shore cast the city lakes keep your lure up HIGH on any of the beaches because most have a cable underwater across them for placing the swim bouys in the spring.
the only place left that I know of that rents fishing boats is beanies on the St Croix (if they still do)???? but the croix may be still running a bit high. |
