Location: Roscoe IL | Fished Pewaukee with Muskie Junkie (Steve) yesterday. Paid $7 for suckers at the big red barn right off the I94 exit (YIKES!) and worked the south bay for the first 6 hours. Moved one on a squirrely Wobble and had one sucker go nuts but no line got stripped, I pulled it in to check for weeds and it was just mangled up behind the hooks (smart fish). Everyone was saying it was slow and we were in agreement that’s for sure.
Steve moved one on a bulldog & I moved another when pulling a sucker out of the weeds. Its 3pm & Steve is considering calling it, I say one more drift on the way in and he agrees. This is when it happened.. We go out deeper from 8-10’ to 18’ and I get a screaming pick up, we get turned quickly and I can see the muskie. IT’S BIG and only a foot under the surface! It’s not turned away so I wait for it to start moving and it did, #*^@ thing shot strait up and cleared the water by 3’ easy. I didn’t get much of a hook set so she threw the sucker and was gone. We decided to go through again and BAM, another screaming pick up. We got this one and it looked small compared to what we had just seen. It measured 43” on the bump board. We will be talking about the one that got away for some time I bet.. I know I slept like crap last night too! #*^@!
Fun day with all kinds of mixed weather, stopped at 5 guys for a burger on the way home.. It was a perfect day to be out weather wise, fish could have been more active, but hey, it’s just getting started.
Maybe Steve can post the pic, I'm not taking pictures anymore unless its a beast or one of my boy's got it. |

Location: searchin for 50 | Not much doing for us. 1 lazy follow on a sucker we checked for weeds and 1 hit on a sucker as we were getting ready to leave. No fish in the boat. It was a beautiful day tho and I got to spend time fishing with my son. |

| Got to fish on Friday on Pewaukee with my friend Nick.
Moved quite a few fish, a few were 40-45 inches long. Had a hit and drop of a sucker, missed a little one and caught this 42 incher. Picture makes her look HUGE.
Fun fish, great day on the water.

| Water temps in the Presque Isle area were 56 - 58. Some area lakes in mid-turnover. Had one low-mid 40's miss a Suick, Samantha lost a good one on a sucker. Pretty slow over all, but a beautiful weekend to be out! |

Location: Geneva, IL | Waubesa all day Sunday. Water was 59 degrees, light breeze and partly cloudy.
Water was pea-soup colored.
Threw everything we had and put some small suckers out.
All we caught were 2 trees and one old spinning rod/reel.
Not a single follow from 9am til dark.
Free jello shots at Christys when the Pack score a TD. Stayed for 2 TDs.

Location: Roscoe IL | Been thinking about the one that got away all day... What did I do wrong? Did I pull the trigger to early? Did I pull the trigger to late? Why did it lauch out of the water like that? Man what a fish these muskies are!

Location: Minocqua, WI | Some forno from the past two week(s)ends. I'm a Bass fisher at heart but if you invest the time, one of the best Musky runs of anyone's life can happen I guess.
First two 30 and 36-inchers came on Sept 19th. Double blades.
Third was my friend's 32 that came last Wednesday on sucker rig.
Fourth was a chunky 32 that came last Wednesday on jerkbait.
Last few was a 51" (my biggest ever by far!) that came last Tuesday the 29th on sucker rig dragged behind the boat. We were casting jerks and glides to dark open water with really nothing around. 10ft sand with some isolated weed patches and all hell broke loose unexpectedly. Floating stick showed 51 which I could not even believe until I had to check a second time, but we forgot to girth her in case a replica is made (which will happen). My guess is 23-25 inch girth, what do you guys think??!!? I was battling the flu last week and I could barely lift her or stand straight. I'd say 30-35lbs easy unless posted otherwise.
She was barely hooked and she exploded off quickly. Pliers and spreaders not needed. What a blast!
Thanks everyone. Coming back later this week for more.

Nice fish, 18-19 on the girth.
healthy 50" fish with a 18-19" girth? - dont think so, I know girth measurements are often exaggerated or done wrong but that is a nice fish 21-22 inch girth would be about right |
|
|
|
| nice looking fish--I would also say about 22" on the girth |

| One small follow on White Bear Lake on about my 5th cast on Sunday.
And more importantly a bold reminder not to fish metro lakes on the weekends. No less than 20 musky boats out there and someone fishing nearly every spot I tried to go to.
Gave me a chance to fish some secondary spots, but reminds me of the "good old days" 10 years ago when I nearly had the lake to myself! |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Fished the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce tourny. Brutal. We got two, one 1/2" away. Large fish was 43.5". Largest, and only legal, caught on Big St. was 35". Turnover really kicked in with the winds on Saturday. Water temps were at 55.5. Rob Manthie and crew did a really nice job, the baits in our grab bags were Cowgirls.

Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Fished the 2 Buck Chuck tournament on Pewaukee and should of doubled. Caught a 35"r before 9:00am and at 12:30 my partner starts screaming like a little school girl in the bow and I turn my head to see this fat back half of a fish. I guess the sucker came flying to the surface and the muskie chased it, T-bone it and proceded to head back into 30ft of water. When I set the quick-strike I had it on for a couple of seconds and then nothing but a clean rig. Should of waited longer....sometimes the Bear Eats you.

| Fished the IMTT tourney on Shelbyville. Caught 2 little guys, 30 and 32, which was enough for 2nd place. I hate losing fish, but I really hate losing fish in a tourney. Had a couple of other chances, including one that shot straight out of the water to throw the bait. For those of you that know Shelbyville, I hate casting at plain clay banks. All of the fish I contacted were in less than 5 foot of water-a couple in less than 2 foot of water-on clay banks with no structure. |

Location: Hopefully on the water | We fished the Hayward tourney this past weekend also. Out of 2 boats we landed on Friday a 36.5, 35.5, 36.25, and 35.75. A couple of fish lost and lots more seen. Saturday we got it handed to us as we didn't switch our fishing habits and lost 1 fish. Sunday back in the saddle again. I lost 1 fish and brother in-law pulled a nice 47" into the net to get him a 8th place finish. My dad tied for 16th and I tied for 32nd. Great weekend and well run tourney. Dbl Cowgirl and Showgirls burned were our ticket once again. Congrats to Jamie for catching the 50 and 51 back to back days and her first place finish. |
