I have started using and having some succes with medium bulldawgs so much so that i am thinking about getting a special rod just for them.I was wondering if any one could help with suggestions on a great rod for them?I mainly use them for fishing deepwaters between 10 to 50ft.The regular rods i use are 6ft and are a bit short for this fishing.

For medium dawgs my 7' 1/2-2oz. st. croix premere works just fine. I did buy a dawg rod for all dawgs which works great especially to figure eight them and that the 7'6" st. croix premere 3/4-3oz. I bought that one for the mag dawgs, works great.

Another rod that is good is the 7'7" gloomis with the 4oz rating.

There is nothing like an 8' rod for this application.
The longer rod lets you start your figure eight out away from the boat and you can keep the bait down without bending way over and killing your back.

I use the 8' St. Croix for my Mag Dawgs and love it!!!!
