I don't think the throwback lure should be just one lure but a lure that is different than the one you are throwing. If you are throwing a bucktail, a throwback could be a hawgwobbler a twitchbait or a jerkbait. Or if you are throwing a fast topwater a throwback would be a slow one and visa versa. I hope this helps some

If the fish is hot on whatever you're throwing or maybe struck and missed. I throw the same thing back at her for a quite a few casts before trying something different.

If the fish was just looking or made a lazy pass at it, I still like to throw the same thing for a cast or two before changing it up. My favorite throwback is usually something slow and on top like a creeper or a walk-the-dog like a jackpot or viper.

it depends on how many people in my boat and the mood of the fish. First I'll say this, I always have one rod rigges with a 6" jake or 5" crane. If I'm fishing with a partner and he raises the fish, I imediately throw the jake or crane out while he is still figure 8'ing, and bring the lure in as I always do, twitching. This has resulted in enough fish already this year to make it a worthwile endeavor. The same goes for him. While I'm twitching that, he casts out the origional bait(but not on top of the throwback to throw it off or spook the fish). If I'm by myself, I always throw the same lure back if the fish looks hot but might not have had enough time, then out comes the fiinnese.

Thanks Guys....

I have had fish follow or looking and being lazy with bucktails. I have thrown them out again with no luck. Then I have tried Crane baits. I think I'll just continue this or switch to jackpots or vipers.

I guess this is why they call it Musky fishing!

Tahoe,

MY favorite is by far the "Jackpot", you can get a lot of fish to go on a jackpot when nothing else seems to work.
