| The crooks , meth heads or kids are making that outing to your favorite lake expensive . I was told they are punching holes in gas tanks on tow vechicles and draining , and taking the gas , If they see anything in the vechicle they just break the side window out , had this happen to me last year , they made off with a crappy stereo . The latest is , this happend last week I guess , they are cutting the catalytic converters off and taking them , nice. This I understand is taking place in Chisago and Pine counties at the boat ramps . |

| actually the best defense is to pay the $7-$10 and use a private landing if available,,,Dont know if thats an option on St Louis but it is on Mile Lacs,,,,,and NEVER use a public launch on Cass!!!!! where they'll damage YOU not just your property

Location: MN | I know numerous cases on Vermilion where they'll hit boats parked at docks and clean them out, at night. Had a friend loose a new GPS unit and heard of other cases with the same fate. We used to keep our boats at a marina on the lake; one day we showed up and every boat in the marina had their batteries yanked, starter battery, trolling motor battery, new/old, didn't matter; all gone. P*sses me off.
I wish I was a bigger guy; I would love to sit at some of these landings with a bunch of buddies and catch people that do this kind of stuff.

| Those all the reasons why I go to Canada...I've fished alot of those waters and have heard countless horror stories. Between the drug issues ,unemployment and "native" problems ...it's sad that we have to worry about what's going on at the launch when we're trying to enjoy ourselves ! |

Maybe we should bus a bunch of meth heads and so on and send them to Utah and make stops at every boat lauch. That would be really impressive. LOL |

| I had my trailer stolen a few years back. On the St Croix north of Stillwater. I came back to the launch and went to my truck just to find a clipped padlock!!!
The Police said that it was common!!
Sure did suck!
I also had all of my trailer lights ripped off of my trailer last year. That was on LOTW.
Again, That sucked! I was pulled over twice on the way home .

| I had an old half case of beer stolen out of the box of my truck a couple years ago. I just did a quick walk through the parking lot and found the car it was in and stole it back seeing as how they left the doors unlocked. I then saved myself the dump run in the morning by putting the random garbage in my truck in their car. Hopefully they learned their lesson, can't stand thieves or vandals. |

| I was at this Chisago County landing when the first owner found out about the stolen catalytic converter. There were two cut off and they had been underneath 3 other vehicles before they may have been interrupted. The owners had only been fishing from 2-5 pm that day.
I had my gas tank drilled out back in June on these same lakes. After talking with the Chisago County Sheriffs office, i urge you to call the sheriff if you see any suspicious vehicles at these landings (i.e. cars or trucks parked with no trailer further away from the access than necessary). Seems as though they are using a look-out man while the others work. Nothing like pulling in a 50" ski for your first fish of the year a week into the season just to get back to your truck and see you have no fuel and a $600 repair bill on the way! |

We have open carry in WI, however on the SE WI lakes, there really haven't been any issues to warrent carrying the .40 on the hip when fishing. Although, there's been a couple of fish that I would have loved to plug this year before they got off. lol |

Location: minocqua, wi. | yah, i've lived here since around '98 and always was glad i did because of what i'd heard of going on in minnesota et al, but for sure this summer right in the middle of the day a guy opens my tailgate, looks inside underneath the cover and grabs the only thing in the bed ... my transom-saver. i'm pretty sure my spare was stolen while at a ramp somewhere in wisconsin (twice!). if you're an avid fisherman go take a peak under your truck ... LOL. i wonder how long it was gone before i noticed?
i still think we're pretty safe here relative to other areas, but not immune to theft at landings. my radar is on and i pay more attention than ever to what stays at the landing after i launch. |

Location: Brookfield, WI | It's not thievery. It's a redistribution of wealth. If you have a fishing boat, you can certainly afford to help the less fortunate. The less fortunate understand this, so they choose to help themselves to what they've been made to feel is rightfully theirs. They do it while you're fishing or sleeping so you don't have to be bothered. I believe this very well may be a government sponsored program.

No problem, Buddy. As citizens, we're all in this together, and we just need to learn to look at things a little differently.

| On Vermilion a couple of years ago had a friend have his truck scratched all to heck by a drunk woman with a rock. Thought it was her ex husbands or something. A couple years before that some named guides had there windows shot out with a pellet gun at a public landing on Vermilion. Have not heard of any incidents at public launches on V for a few years now... |

Obviously U2!
I wouldn't want to be the culprit Sled catches! Likewise, U wouldn't want to be the culprit I catch - even if it wasn't my own rig!
I have very high pain thresold and + 16 years in US military experience. Yeah, I'm an old fart! But, I have also studied under 10th degree black belt -> Meaning, I have been in barracks/bar fight's you can't even imagine.
There is no excuse for what these guy's are doing. Watch out for your fellow muskie fisherman or even those lesser species fisherman at the landing's - it's the right thing to do! If you see something suspicious- take a camera/phone photo & write it down and report it to authorities! YOU could be next!
Be safe!

| You can get a MN Concealed Carry permit. They also have recriprocal agrerements with Utah (i.e you're Utah permit is recognized as valid) and FL. If you have both the Utah and FL carry permits, you're good in every state except WI (which allows open carry, subject to local ordinances) and IL.
If you don't want to go through the classes and fingerprinting, etc.? Well, I guess you need to ask yourself if a minor firearms violation is worth it or not.

That's not quite true Jeff. There's still several states that do not honor the Utah/Florida CCW permit combination. Much has to do w/ the residency and/or shooting test (or lack thereof) in the permitting process. But WI and IL are still the only states that completely disallow concealed carry for citizens.
