Me and a buddy have been having trouble with our baits getting tangled together. We are running 5 total rods, 2 - 10' and 2 - 7' rods on each side and a 9' out the back. The one in the back seems to be giving us the most problems. Any suggestions? We are new to trolling and have caught 2 and lost 2 so far this year.

Shorten up the one in the back (real short). Place that one in the back out with 8 feet of line. Muskies like hitting them in the prop wash.

Run shallow baits on long lines on the two 10' rods then deeper diving baits on shorter lines on the other 3. Make sure they tuned to run straight as well. This should help keep things tangle free.

This may be real basic but if our baits are running out of tune, i mean real bad they will go into other lines. It is good to have some walk to them. Also the rod in the prop wash, my experense is they do what they want to back there the prop does crazy things to baits.

With the set up you described, i would buy inline planer boards, clip them on your 7' rods and runn them off as you out rods, get them away from your boat 20-30 feet, then use the 10' for side flat lines, and your 9' prop rod.
With the 7' rods with board this opens your area behind the boat by 6 foot wider, that leaves more room for the prop rod to move where it wants to.
