I live near Springfield, MO and have been trying to catch a Muskie at Fellows lake for a while with no luck. Does anyone have any advice on what to use or where on the lake to go to catch them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new to Muskie fishing.

Thanks!

I'd try the usual black/silver bucktail, as well as, a brown bucktail. 7" Jakes or Grandma baits should produce a muskie. perch and tennesse shad
You may want to try a Mann's Stretch 1-Minus. It is only 6" and dives to only one foot. I think the color I like the best is pearl with a black back. I like to reel and pause, or jerk the baits.
Shallow flats should be a good area to try. Of couse, I've heard Fellows has some weed beds. I'd be fishing over and around them too.
Although I have never fished Fellows Lake, it probably is similar to Pomme de Terre. Some of the best times to fish Pomme de Terre usually is around mid September throught mid or late October. Others have told me that muskie fishing is usually good after a long hot summer. A cold front or rainy day in late August or first of September sometimes turns muskie action on.

note.....
It may be difficult to launch on Pomme de Terre after they draw down the lake 5 feet beginning September 7th. Of course, it will take a few days (probably around 10 days) before it is 5 feet low. Then, it may rise above normal pool
it there is a lot of rain.

Zac,
I responded to your PM earlier today and hope that info helps.Fellows and Pomme are totally different when it comes to Muskies, and as a matter of fact, all gamefish.I think it has alot to do with how poor quality the water is at Pomme the last ten years, but Im no biologist.Fellows is producing larger, healthier fish since it was stocked in '96.Fertility of the lake is awesome, strong weedbeds, clean water, etc.Pomme hasnt had weeds since the flood of '93,but the conservation dept is working hard to start them up again, best of luck to them.Muskies at Fellows like Musky baits,Muskies at Pomme like bass baits.Fellow Muskies like the figure 8 till your arms fall off,Pomme fish leave as soon as they see the boat. You cant buy a fish in March at Pomme, but can on Fellows.Pomme does have it's days if you like smaller fish, but you include the hours it takes and it has no comparision to Fellows.Fellows being 800 acres,Pomme 7800 acres, you would think the potential would be the other way around....Good Luck.
