| I've been going back and forth about which reel would be best , to pull the double 10's or ...double 13's! The reels I currently have ( Abu Record, Revo Toro), are OK, but would like something a little more stronger. I've looked into the Daiwa Saltiga Lever, Saltist, and the Revo Winch. What would be your suggestion to handle these baits a little more smoother, and does anyone have a Daiwa Saltiga...likes, dislikes. Thanks |

Location: N.FIB | I like the penn 975 for double tens or bigger,others work also but have had nothing but problems with my abus.also I used one last year without breaking anything on it,first reel I have used that much without failure. |

| I recently got a saltist and like it so far. Only used it about a week though. Using double tens one of my record reels would of already been burned up or making dying sounds so it seems promising. |

| I have been using a Saltist 20 for a while now and I love it. The 20 for me is easy to palm, unlike some of Diawa's bigger models. |

But it seems as some still would like to dig into this sub, and there are new products coming onto the market all the time, so this theme will never lose it's actuality. If some of you don't want to join/read the discussions on some treads, you are not forced to do so. |

| Hands down the best and easiest reel to use is the Calcutta Te 400Ljv. Very easy to cast and pulls in cowgirls like they are bass spinners. It only has one little kork. You must keep the handle between 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock or it can engage on you. Another fix is change the power handle to a counter balance one. And for those that say "just get the Calcutta Te 400 and put a power handle on it......I have tried one like that and it is no where near the same. The Lucanus 400ljv is the only way to go.

....not quite. My levelwind gear stripped out after only about a month of use. That's what made me go to the Trinidads. A $400 reel should not have a plastic- anything. I like the TE's, and I kept mine. But for me the 700 was a big disappointment. Nice reel, but disappointing. Now I'm sold on the Trinidads...period. Like I said, I'm keeping the TE as back up and for later in the fall when I don't need the speed. But in the meantime, I've got to send in my basically brand new 700 for repair! |

Ive been using a Abu IHSN7000, I like it, kind of bulky,
but it does its job.
Im not looking to burn dbl 10's since the only fish ive seen and caught on them
has been slow cranking. have burned quite a few times without ever seeing anything.
Otherwise i still use my TE400's as well. but i dont want to cough up
my kids college fund just for a power handle for my TE.
Overtime this month just might have me shopping for a new reel tho,
i won a rod in our spring outing, gotta put a reel on it right away!  |

| Try the Bass Pro Musky Reels. 4.2 gear ratio. They used to be the Pete Maina reels, now they just call them Musky.
Anyways, I've been throwing them for 10 years, no problems.
And I've been using them with DCG's for a few years now. I dropped $269 on a Revo Toro Winch and even though it's a nice reel, it still drags much harder than the Bass Pro reels which you can get for $100 or less.
I throw DGS's 90% of the time on the water and use Bass Pro Musky every time. My Revo Toro sits on my bulldog rod which only gets used 10% of the time! |

So you spent $379 on your TE but cant spend $50 on a power handle, that is truly sad...
Back on point though, I have 2 400 TE's and they both work just fine for pulling Dbl 10's. Their are many reels that will work for Dbl 10's, you might want to specify what your trying to do with your dbl 10's, are you wanting to burn them, slow roll them or just reel average? |

| HANDS DOWN THE SALTIST. GET 2 OF THE SALTIST FOR THE PRICE OF 1 TE. TRUST ME I KNOW. BOUGHT A TE DID'NT CARE FOR IT SOLD IT ON EBAY AND BOUGHT 2 SALTIST AND 2 ONE OF A KIND BIKINI BAIT COMPANY GLIDERS.
ABU GARCIA PRO ROCKETS AND BIG GAMES WORK GOOD ALSO BUT CAN'T BURN THEM LIKE YOU CAN WITH THE SALTIST.
THE MANIA REELS ARE NICE REELS THAT I HAVE 5 OF AND THERE IS NO WAY I'D USE MINE FOR 10's. REELING IN A 10 ON THE SALTIST IS LIKE REELING IN A MEPPS MUSKY MARABOU ON THE MANIA REELS. I HAVE BOTH THE 5.2:1 AND 4.2:1. THE SALTIST IS WORTH THE $40 TO $80 MORE YOU'LL HAVE TO PAY.

| $50 for a handle is ridiulous! Im with ya there dogboy! I remember spending $12 for my first 6500 powerhandle and thought that was a little pricey. I will say though the TE 700 is indestructable, i've never had a reel last more then a year and im going on two years w/mine and I cannot break it. It has unbelievable power and decent speed at 31 inches per crank. The only downfall is it's a bit bulky but since I went to the foregrip that's a non issue. I highly recommend one.
