How did the Muskies treat you this weekend?

Saw a few trying to harass Kolo at Maynard's docks.

My son and I boated 6 on LSC, biggest 45.5".  He actually caught 7 different fish species, including a pig of a smallmouth.

Nice pic Bigman...minus the crappy hat! Got out a little bit last night and had one chasing a Weagle around and went after it aggressively once but didn't connect. I'll be out the next few days/night and will report anything worthy of reporting when I get back.

Which crappy hat you talking about, the one I am wearing is a musky Mojo hat and the other is a Chicago bears hat, my guess is that your bashing the Chicago bears hat, I am from Chicago so I always got love for Da bears and so does Boober.

I didn't get out as much as I had planned this weekend, so I only got to hear about all the fish a guy I know was catching this weekend!

I did manage to get out tonight for a few hours. Got on the water at about 4:30. Caught the first one, a 38.5 on my 4th cast on a Hardhead. Caught a 40 on an 11" Curly Sue probably 2 1/2 hours later. Both fish were in deeper water just out from weedlines.

Also caught a clam. I released him and he took off fine, but I'm a little worried about delayed mortality. Do you think 77 degree water is too warm for a safe clam release?

I prefer the warmer temps when trolling for clam. They tend to school up around beach's at that time of year.

What a weird weekend, saturday i had to work so my weekend was sunday and monday.
Sunday morning i loaded up the boat and took off for the lake with just a short stop for gass never leaving the rig a paying by debit.
After a short 20 min slow easy drive with no wind we arrive at the lake to find the big 50" beckman gone.
Now this net has traveled with me all over ontario at much higher speeds under much more adverse conditions and never budged an inch in five years.I am haveing a real hard time wraping it around my head that it blew out of the boat.
I back tracked back home but could not find it so i went and picked up the spare.
After playing it out in my head over and over i have come to the conclusion that the dirtbag that was eyeballing my rig from the other side of the pump in the morning must have reached over and swiped it out of the boat as i was pulling away,a very bold move.I am super peeed.
Ater getting back on the water we fished hard all day without moving a single fish.
About 1-1/2 hrs before dark there is i major wind shift and some menecing looking clouds on the horizon so i head to my best piece of water an on my second cast i get eaten on a mag dawg by a decent fish i set the hok and get about three head shakes out of it and my line goes slak as though i had been biten off, upon retreval of the bait the wire frame of the dawg has broke leaving me with about 5 inches of wire hanging from my leaded, are you kidding me,unreal.
The well pinned muskie continues to go airborn thrashing its head wildly every couple of minutes with bits of bulldawg floating to the surface all over the place.
Two firsts in one day.
On the upside this was the start of an incredible feeding window that saw 3 lower 40 inch fish landed 4 fish hooked and lost and three other follows all inside an hour. But wait rite there sports fans its not over.
Monday my partner for the day wanted to go bass fishing so thats what we did,a good frog and dock bite played out into the after noon, fun stuff.
Now the day before in the maylay i drifted up on top of the shole we were fishing and spooked two 5+lb largemouth that were holding at the top of the submerged millfoil so with things slowing down in the after noon i decided to see if i could catch a bass or two off that spot.As i approached the spot i mentioned to my friend that the conditions looked very muskie,no sooner had i said this and a walleye guy hooks and lands a small 6 to 8 pound skie. Before i can get th t-motor down the guy lands a 3ish walleye. As i am pushing forward towards the hump the guy is drifting past me in the wind and hooks into another skie about 10 to 12 pounds and gives it a boatside release.Wow everything is on fire out here.
Well i see the hump in front of the boat and pitch i jig and pig up on top and get an instant thump,i rear back and the 7 foot allstar jig rod blows up into three pecies in the middle of the rod and just above the handle and i am firmly attached to a high 40 inch madd muskie that goes ballistic and bites me off. This weekends getting expensive. After some holy cows and laughs i rig up another jig and pig and start pitching it around again.5 to 10 pitches latter i get another thump and set into a low 40 inch muskie that i alnd and release at boatside. While i am releaseing it my buddie hooks and lands a 3lb largemouth on a senko.
My partner says he is haveing problums staying in contact with his senko and switches over to a spinner bait, three cast latter as the spinner bait is comeing past the boat another low 40 inch skie comes up and smashes it at boatside right in front of me,cool.
An exciting fight on light bass gear and another boatside release.
Drifting well below the spot and talking about how great a muskie day this could have been and i see a fish off to the side of the boat floating belly up.
We t-motor over to it and its the muskie that broke the bull dawg off the day before, the rear hook is firmly planted in the corner of the jaw and the head hook is deeply imbeded behind the knuckle of the pectoral fin pinning its neck over to the one side,i grab the fish and it is dead and just starting to stiffen up,a very unfortunate ending to a nice fat 43 ich female.
What a drag i feel bag at the loss of a nice fish but it was not a fault of mine but that of a defective mag dawg.
Wow what a weird weekend.
