I've got a 70lb PD w/ US2 hooked up to an eagle 480. It reads the bottom fine when the trolling motor is both on & off. However, with the trolling motor on, I cannot mark anything else but the bottom. No schools of bait, no fish, and more importantly my bait (found this out while jigging for lakers this week). Depth of my bait, the fish, or bait school in the water column makes no difference. Once I flip it on, a solid black line goes across the screen vertically, then it starts to read the bottom, but nothing else. If it matters, sensitivity is around 78-84%. I tried cranking it up, but no help either.

Any ideas?

Sounds like an EMI issue. When you turn the motor on, the electrical field generated in the head of the motor is interfering with the ducer. It could be as simple as an insulation fix, or could be more indepth, requiring work at a MinnKota service center.

Spoke w/ a Minn kota rep today. According to him it's either A) - fuse in trolling motor head is blown (easy - but least likely) or B) - trolling motor lower unit has a leak in it (not easy - require service, and most likely).

Going to check it out after work...

Sounds like the transducer might be bad, every time i would hit the power button my depth reading would go crazy & lines would come across the screen. Had a new transducer put in, works fine now !! MINE WAS STILL UNDER WARRENTY..BUT THE DUCER WAS $112 & 1/2 HOUR OF LABOR AT A LOCAL SERVICE CENTER... MY 2 CENTS... GOOD LUCK!!

And the winner is option B!!!!!!!! Luckily, it's under warranty.

Anyone able to reccomend a shop around between Madison & Fond du Lac for warranty or repairs? I'm in Waupun & my GF is in Madison, so anywhere close should work.
