I'm going to be leaving for a week long trip into Canada at the end of August and I'm looking for suggestions on a good place to send my reels to have them cleaned. I dealt with a place in Madison which was less than satisfactory 2 years ago and last years experience wasn't much better at a place out of the Twin Cities. I'm located in Western WI and if I could drop them off that would be great, but not a mandatory thing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've asked this question before, and most people here recommend http://www.sportsmansrepair.com/index.html.

You can also send them to Richard Schmitz (sp?). On here he is known as "Pikemaster". Richard had my reel cleaned and back to me in just a couple days. He replaced any broken parts, and he uses "Hot Sauce" brand lubes. The most expensive out there! Price was VERY pleasant. He even called me when he had it all apart to see if I wanted any of the brakes adjusted while he was digging around in there. #1 in my book!

Get ahold of Rick Mechelke in Chippewa Falls. He does good work at a very fair price. 1st WI Muskies Inc guys keep him pretty busy in the winter & spring.
