Anyone have one or ever fished out of one? Looking at a 2010 with a single side console? Is a 115 Yamaha big enough - it rates up to a 150. Any information would be great!!!

Thanks!

I've fished out of my buddies tons of times. He has a 150 on the back. Very nice fishing machine if you ask me especially for the money.
My guess is the 115 will probably get you up to the high 30's very low 40mph range depending on load.
If you can afford it, get the max hp the boat is rated for. This will increase your enjoyment now and resale later.

Good luck

I own a 175cs navigator with an Etec 115 on it. Wouldnt switch for any other alum boat on the market. Top speed of 44 mph with 2 plus gear. Wide open design, easy to figure 8, and super durable. Bought mine in 2008 after fishing out of a friends 2005. Both of us are very satisfied, he traded his Sylvan, I traded my Lund. The Alumacraft is by far better than either. Just my opinion but I think youd agree. Keep casting Bill

I have one and love it. Mine does 42 fully loaded with a 115 yamaha 4 stroke. I kinda like having a smaller motor. I can run for 2-3 full days up in Canada before having to refuel. If I had a 150 I'm sure I would use it when I could, but 40's is fine with me. I know it says it can only take a 7' rods, but mine can hold 8 and a half footers. Big release well works great. I been out in 6' footers and never had any fear that the boat wouldn't get me back.

Had a 98 Alumcraft Tourney Pro and traded it in and bought one last year, love it. Mine has a 150 optimax on it which wasn't that much more than the 115 or 135. Do yourself a favor and work with the dealer to see what the difference in price is, you might be surprised. Right now it runs at mid to upper 40's and I could probably get a lot more out of it with the proper setup and prop. Havent had the time to take care of that.

There was a huge difference from the 2008 to the 2009 in my opinion as they moved the throttle controls. In 2008, they had a little bump out connected to the console that the throttle attached to. In 2009, they got rid of it and attached the controls to the side of the boat. Im 6'2" and it felt like I was reaching behind me to move the throttle and it felt very uncomfortable. I told the dealer I needed them to fabricate a bracket to push the throttle controls closer or I wasnt going to buy the boat. Most times it wouldn't be an issue however in 5-6 foot waves on LOTW, it becomes an issue. My wife had problems reaching it and at that point, its a safety issue in my mind. They had no problems with it and got matching carpet and its not the best but it doesn't look too bad and you don't really notice it.

It also helped that the dealer was the largest retailer of Alumacraft boats, so......whatever they wanted, Alumacraft provided. Make sure you sit in the boat and get a feel for how it sits and how the controls are to you before purchasing.

I have a 2005 175 navigator sport with a 115 honda and it does everything I want it to do and I have been very happy with the purchase. With 2 guys and gear it tops out at 40mph which is fast enough for me and it has enough hole shot to pull my 180lbs out of the water while skiing. It fishes 2 very comfortably, 3 ok (it would be much better with a single side console), and we have fished 4 on many occasions without problems (although I wouldn't want a rookie in the boat).

LaCanne's Marine in Faribault, MN. Great people, great service, and great prices!!

you could also check out Hallberg Marine in Wyoming, MN as well. I have purchased two boats from there and have been very happy as well.

If I were to make a recommendation...if you can afford to get a 150 put on it, I would highly suggest doing so. Granted, a 115 would do fine, it will struggle at the times you need the power (such as in heavy conditions with people on board) having the extra "umph" will be a good thing. If you must get a 115, find the largest displacement engine you can to help with low end torque.

Stark's in Praire du Chien, WI.

They were almost $4,000 less than everybody else in the Madison area when i bought mine.

A 115 will be fine. I have a 90 on my 2004 and top end for me is 37 with a couple guys on board.

I'd second Waterwerks in Naperville.
Ask for Tony or Walt the owners they will take good care of you.

Check out Smitty's in Lake City, MN. I drove 70 miles & saved over $2500 on my Nav. 165CS. I gave the 4 closest dealers 1 shot to give their best price, Ken Smith is a great guy to work with.

Got a new 2009 165 tiller w/ 75 yamaha this spring, very happy w/ the boat.

As for dealers, best price I found around was at Bob's Outboard & Marine in Cortland/Dekalb Illinois. Wanted to stay in WI to get it, but the price I got couldn't be beat and everything has been as easy as pie. Great place

Scmuskies,

What is the base price on the 165 tiller? I have been looking at this boat and I tried a couple of online quotes from a few dealers in the twin cities area and never got a response. I should probably just go to the dealer in person, but if you could give me a general price you paid for it I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Marc

Has anyone mounted a track system on the gunwale? I placed a bert's on the rail last night and it fits but it does hang over and I have been trying to think of alternate ideas for mounting. (I have thought of flush, but I want options for tubes and rams, downeasts).

Mark,

Right around 18,000 before tax. That's was w/ a 70 lb Autopilot US2, two interstate 27 series batteries, on-board 2-bank charger (Duopro? can't remember the brand off hand), 75 Yamaha, and $450 instant cash back from alumacraft (got it during their deal in the spring, buy earlier and get a better cash back). I'm extremely happy with it. I can get 2+ days on the trolling motor w/o recharging, get 38-39 mph with 2 people & gear, and tons of space.
