I am looking for a good musky lake near Hayward, WI for week long vacation next summer (mid August) with the family. I am not looking for a numbers lake e.g. a bunch of 38-40 inch fish, nor am I looking for a lake with a few 54 inch fish in it.
A lake somewhere in between would be nice. Please let me know your recommendations. Thanks in advance.

A lake with a bunch of 38-40 inchers would be nice...The chippewa flowage is ok. Plenty of fish with some big ones and tons of water to fish.

Lost Land/Teal lakes offer what you are asking. Spider Lake chain could be considered and the Chip as well.

Moose - good numbers and the occasional big one

Lost Land / Teal - good numbers and the occasional big one

Chippewa Flowage - this has just always been a very hard lake for me to catch muskie.

Spider Chain on a slight to windy day. No wind equaled no fish activity. Also, don't pass up Lake Namakagon up the road in Cable, WI.

Lost land and teal. you couldn't pick a better place to vacation BTW. I fish the big chip every year. Another good choice but it is harder to catch fish due its size.

I second LCO. Grindstone as well as they're connected.

Grindstone is a cool lake, but there are easier lakes to fish for sure.

I'd agree that Lost Land/Teal would probably best fit your description of what you are looking for. There are very good numbers of fish, although a bit less than other "action waters" in the area. In a week's time, you'll be seeing lots of fish in the low/mid/upper 30" range, but there are also plenty of fish in the 42-45" range, and 46-48" fish are also definitely present.
