Troops,
A few of us will be hitting the Hayward area this weekend.
Fishing Whitefish, Grindstone, Round, Lac Courte
Orielles and Sissabagama.
Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated, mostly
by my fishless Nebraska buddie-poor Husker fan still
hurting from the 'corn-holing' Miami gave them-[:0]
We can down-rig and run Dipsy's if that helps ?

| LCO and Grindstone are quite gin clear. Night bite might be a good option. Topwater in the evening on Grindstone. Great weedflat just to the east of the public launch that is on the east side. Launch your boat on the south one however, it is much nicer. I have the most experience on Grindstone. It has some very large fish in it. Troll over the 35 to 60 foot stuff and look for baitfish during the day. Target the reefs and weeds toward evening and work your spots thoroughly. Have fun. You may want to try out the chip just down the road if the clear water conditions present a challenge. Grindstone can put out some biggun's in the fall. Don't really know the patterns this time of year. | |

| Grindstone and Round put out some incredibly fat fish, but in low numbers, especially on Round. I have fished Round on vacation for 2 years straight and have yet to figure out a sensible pattern. The thermocline is usually around 28-32 ft. and the cisco are of the larger size (from 18-22"). Another pattern you may try is jigging some of the deeper cribs, which always seem to have plenty of muskie bait around them (juvenille bluegill). Don't expect too much action on these clearwater lakes. Good Luck!! | |
