This is teflon impregnated material, guys. They have the best system out for keeping your hood up, your crotch and arms dry, and everything else comfortable (get this..they have vents built in under an articulated roll flap in the back of the hood so air whipping in around the hood when you are under power can escape..stopping the hood from flapping and soaking/deafening you). The zippers are rolled like a dry bag, and no way does water get in there. It's set up so your lega and arms are able to move...no more binding when kneeling or reaching for something. We've been watching the development of this gear by the Lindners and the Snosuit folks since last year and were sworn to secrecy....Can't wait to get mine.
Bigman, if the suit fits Bro, it should fit you, too.

You can order the FXE Stormsuit directly from the Frabill website. The bibs are $219.99 and the jacket is $209.99

i was actually hoping for a list of places that are already carrying it in stock where you can go and look at it and (gasp!) try it on. the nearest Bass Pro is a couple hours away from Madison in northern Illinois.
is there any way to know when Gander Mountain will be getting it? they carry the SnoSuit and IceSuit so i assume they'll be carrying the StormSuit?

The storm suit will be in all the stores stocking Frabill gear late Winter through Spring. Delivery and display depend on each retailer's order/delivery date and merchandising, give those close to you a call. Some stores will display rain gear earlier than others, others will be featuring winter gear through March.
Price will probably be less than straight retail. I saw the Ice Suit at the soon to open Osh Kosh based store, The Reel Shot, at about $300.00.

Get off CHEAP and WET with Gander H20 Raingear. No such thing as cheap good raingear that I am aware of. You get what you pay for. I will definately be investing in good raingear this year.

Two things, first....about the above post regarding Cabela's GuideWear, I think the poster is mistaken about both the quality of the item and the ease of getting it backed up by the merchant. It is a superior rain suit, it is used by more tournament musky anglers than any other I see on the tours I fish (by far) and the guys who have taken them back to the store have walked out with a new suit--no questions asked. Second, there is another Gore-Tex Product out there that is labled as "Supreme Gore-Tex" and it is sold on some very high-end ski and mountain gear brands which feature a zipper that is better at withstanding the wind and rain that is "blown in" and where most rain suits let you get wet. I bought one, skied with it last week, but have not had the opportunity to wear it on the boat yet. My guess, however, is that we will soon see this stuff in the normal sporting goods outlets too! Hi ,
Is there somebody who can help me a bit further ? I would appreciate it.
Are there people who want to share their honest experience with this Storm Suit?
I'm intrested in buying it, but first, if possible I want first some information on it. Seen that I'm living overseas and there are no shop who are selling it in my country . I can not have a look and try some before buying it. So if I need one I will have to buy it on the net.
And is there a better way, than asking on fishermen themselves.
Staying really dry when fishing a day or consecutif days in the rain ?
About the stifness, is it comfortable/ a pleasure to wear when casting all day long ?
Is your crotch staying dry when seated( trolling) ?
How are the size falling out. For example; medium better with a large, large better with a XL size . Or ,just the opposit?
What do you think about , is it worth/really quality to make the cost to sent it over to Belgium?
Your experience when buying true Frabill on the net ? It is just that I did sent them twice a mail and still waiting for their answer. Somebody now if they are having holiday ?

Patrick,
Your not going to get many reviews on the Stormsuit just yet, it's just now hitting stores in select locations but should be in many of the major retailers within the next few months. I have personally tried the suit on and talked with many guys that have used it so far and I haven't heard any complaints yet. Al Lindner himself had a lot of input on this suit so that should say a lot about the quality and durability of this suit since the Lindner family just doesn't do that for any product.
Unlike the Guidewear, when you wear it all day in rain, it's gets a heavy feeling, where the material gets saturated and then makes the suit feel heavy. This suit you do not get that.
As for the stiffness, it's less than the Cabela's Guidewear, it's more of a form fitting suit to the body and was engineered to bend in areas that see the most movement. The quality of the suit from what I've seen is second to none, just like the Frabill FXE Snosuit, a very well thought out suit.
The crotch area I think you'll find to be very unique.

One thing I'm not sure of in the video or in any of the product descriptions is what kind of waterproof barrier does this have? The Frabill online descriptions just say it's waterproof oxford nylon shell, and has a Teflon fabric protector. Is the fabric itself waterproof or does it also have a barrier along the lines of Gore-Tex?

Looks like a great product do they take trades on the old BP 100 mph or Cabela's guidewear suits? Not sure I can afford a new suit when I have a pretty good one already. I get wet mostly from spray running down thru the neck opening while moving from spot to spot

Hi
Thanks for answering my questions and given your opinion /thoughts about the suit.
I think that I will take the risk for it , and buy one on the net.
Kind regards,
Patrick

the video with Al Lindner moved me off the fence and i'll be buying this suit.
he addressed my biggest irritation with breathable rain gear: water pressing through the material when you sit down for trolling or making a drive. when Al Lindner looks you directly in the eye (camera) and says your crotch and bottom will not get wet, that carries a LOT of weight in my book.

Hello,
Thanks for the answers above.
Could you shoot me some internet shops were I would be able to buy a suit?
And the most important ,they should send overeas. But that I will find out myself.
I did already try to buy a suit true Frabill, but at the Check out , it seems that they are not sending overseas !!! Never got a response to my mails to ask them if they sent overseas or not.
So I tried it true Bass Pro Shop, it seems the same history. When I want to check out, arrived at the shipping point I receive the message" Drop ship items may only be ordered within the USA please delete your order ".
So till now no order for that suit .
But I want 1 and I will get 1.
It seems to be more difficult to buy a rain suit than an airplane or a tank!!! Funny.
So thanks again in advance and have a nice day!!
Patrick

While I would like to believe Al Lindner as well (though they did recently jump ship and after telling us for years how good Shimano was, they really think Quantum is the way to go - don't worry, I understand how marketing, promotion and endorsements work), it really cannot be both ways. If it will absolutely not let moisture through, then it is like Helly Hansen pvc and is not breathable. If however it is a breathable membrane, then the membrane has minute holes in it to allow the escape of moisture vapor, and that will eventually allow/force water through it, especially when sitting on it! But I'll agree it's just tempting enough to consider...

The testing showed no moisture getting through no matter how long one sat, stood, ran the boat, and fished in the rain. Most failures are the result the quality of the fabric, bad seams, bad zippers, a poor design, or a combination of those issues and the Storm Suit has none of those problems.
The Storm Suit testing and prototyping results proved you CAN have it both ways. I'm looking very much forward to owning one and proving it to myself as well.

Well, it would be a first for sure, and more power to 'em if they accomplish it. Of course the "breathability" thing is highly subjective, so we'll all have to see. I hope it is as described, that would make for some great gear.

Tell you what, next time Al is at a show you attend, walk on up to him and ask him about the suit. He will tell you exactly what the Lindners did to help the folks at Frabill design this thing, and how many times they rejected a design or concept.
They didn't just put it on and proclaim it good.
Watch the videos and listen to what he has to say. It's interesting stuff.

I shelled out close to $300 for my insualted rain gear. Hayward tournament, 3 days of temps ranging from 33 - 38, all day rain, 20 MPH winds. Crotch? wet. Backside? Chest? wet. Up to my knees and up to my elbows? wet. We had to dry the fish entry forms that were in my inside (supposedly waterproof) pocket before we could write on them. No, I didn't melt, but I was #*^@ uncomfortable. I had to bring my rain gear home in a garbage bag so it didn't leak all over the inside of my buddy's truck. By the time we got home it smelled like a homeless person slept in it. Washed it twice. Sprayed it with Camp Dry, 3 cans of the stuff in fact. It still stinks, and it still isn't waterproof. If I factor in all the time I spent shoving newspapers in the cuffs and trying to dry it in between tournament days, and the time spent washing it and spraying it? Well, I could easily have made more than the extra $100 it would cost for what seems to be a superior product. I can't say much else about the Storm Suit having not tried it myself. But I've got probably twice that much invested in 3 other rain suits, NONE of which serve their intended purpose, which is to keep you dry out on the water.
Getting a little wet isn't a big deal if you only fish June - September. But late October into November, when your rain gear is soaked and you've got three more days to fish? Not good, especially when the rain changes to snow, the temperature drops into the 20's, the wind is still blowing, and you're wet all the way through to your shorts.

talk to Frabill about the care of the suit. But when I asked how to wash my sno-suit and this came from chris (inventor) himself....he said just to follow the directions on the label. It was that easy. The material used does not need any of the spray from what i hear either.

they (finally) got this in last week at Gander Mountain in Madison. i liked the way it fit, so i bought a set. spacious where it needed to be and snug at the right spots too. i especially liked the double-wrapped wrist cuffs, that's a one place water gets in; i also really liked the extended stiff visor on the hood, that'll keep water off the glasses a little better i think.
of course the real point is to keep me dry. we'll see if it works as well as promised...

Got mine this week too. I'm looking very much forward to trying it out. I liked the hood quite a bit as well, had to adjust it to fit, but got it after a few moments. The zipper to get the bibs off doesn't expose one's clothing underneath. Cool.

So here is a question for you... If you watch the video the bibs have straps that are elastic and they feed into the top of the bib. They have a small buckle to adjust strap size. This is touted as a fitting advantage. I own the suit and the pair I have are this style. If you look at the web page or have seen anyof the Angling Edge shows filmed last/shown this year the bib's have a tradtional male-femal buckle system. Any idea on why the two different straps and which is the new style?

if you watch the videos talking to frabill and al linder al said they kept on telling frabill to do adjustments to the suit to make it better. So I would say the ones on the suit now are the new better style, which are fine to me since I own the suit also but have not gotten to use it in rain yet.

I can tell you I am 6'3 and the bibs fit me just fine. The product that they use is a 3M designed. I do not recall the name but if you look at the tags it tells you. There are a few decent waterproof breathable mebranes out there these days; Gore was just the first to do it.
I bought the suit because I like the features that they have derrived. That fact many are designed specifcally for fishing/boating I think is great. A couple (built in glasses chamois) are a little gimmicky but still practical.
I have been using Northface Bibs and Jackets designed for Climbing that have been a champ but they cost about 2.5 times what the Storm suit does. I figured for its price point it was worth a gamble.
